Fox Officially Announces Fantastic Four Reboot
20th Century Fox has confirmed that it will reboot its Fantastic Four franchise. Rumors of a potential reboot first hit back in March.
Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, Hancock, Jonah Hex) has been hired to produce and Michael Green, the executive producer of TV’s “Heroes” and writer of “Green Lantern,” will pen the script for the new “Fantastic Four.”
The 2005 “Fantastic Four” and 2007 sequel “Rise of the Silver Surfer” were directed by Tim Story and starred Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Ioan Gruffudd. Since the deals for the reboot are just getting made, it is unclear if any of them will return and Fox was unwilling to comment on the development.
Rachel McAdams as Black Orchid?
Before we write another word, let us make this clear: there’s no movie of Black Orchid in development yet. Or if there is, DC and Warners are keeping it very quiet. But Rachel McAdams is certainly interested in it – and given that she’s already missed out on roles in Batman Begins, Fantastic Four AND Iron Man, it seems only fair to give her a little superhero love.
She’s really gotten into the book, and would like to see a movie: “I just read this book Black Orchid and it’s a really interesting character,” she told MTV. “She’s a superhero that’s a flower. I don’t know if that would work or the audiences would be interested in that, but she was kind of cool.”
Alba confirms new ‘Fantastic Four’ plans
Jessica Alba has confirmed that there are plans for a new Fantastic Four movie.
2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s sequel Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer were both box office successes and Alba revealed that 20th Century Fox has already begun making plans for a third film.
However, the Hollywood star added that the writers’ strike in the US meant that the movie was currently being put on hold and wouldn’t be released in the near future.
She told Coming Soon: “The writers’ strike and the impending actors strike’ has kind of put a wrench in everything production-wise.
“That film takes a lot of prep, a good six months of prep and about six months to shoot. With the strike, I think, maybe it’s put on hold.”
