Director Guillermo Del Toro Leaves The Hobbit
In a statement released to theonering.net, director Guillermo Del Toro has officially announced that he regrettably will not direct J.R.R. Tolkien’s film The Hobbit, though he will stay on as co-writer, due to several production delays related MGM’s sale.
Right now, Del Toro’s already spent two years preparing the films for shooting, but with no start date in sight, it’s possible he could be waiting for another year or even two years before they’re ready to shoot.
