Johnny Depp Will NOT Play Pancho Villa in Emir Kusturica’s Seven Friends of Pancho Villa
We already had a little chat about Emir Kusturica‘s upcoming biopic of the legendary Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa, so you probably remember that Johnny Depp was set to star as Villa, right?
And we had nothing against that decision. But it looks that things are going to change now, because, according to the latest reports, Depp is no longer attached to the whole thing!
On the other hand, Kusturica still intends to make the film, and the leading role will be given to either Gael Garcia Bernal or Benicio del Toro. Check out the rest of this report for more details.
As guys from Serbian site reported, Kusturica will soon meet Gael Garcia Bernal and Benicio del Toro in Cuba, after which he will come to a final decision as to who gets to be Villa in his new production. Meanwhile, as the director himself has announced, the film will be entitled Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman With Six Fingers.
So, now, when we learned that Depp’s schedule will prevent him from playing Pancho Villa, the big question is – who will have an honour to portray a Mexican revolutionary in an adaptation of James Carlos Blake‘s novel The Friends of Pancho Villa, which has this description:
During the roughly 10 years the Mexican Revolution tore across the land, it unleashed a human catastrophe unparalleled in that country since the Conquest. Rodolfo Fierro teams up early on in the action with Pancho Villa the bandit/revolutionary, one of the few who seem to revel in love as much as in death. He, for example, dislikes torturing prisoners, because it takes too long.
Martin Scorsese’s ‘Silence’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’
Martin Scorsese is very busy director these days. He’s attached (again) to helm The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio involved.
Ridley Scott was previously set up to direct the film for Warner Bros. that was originally offered to Scorsese.
So, Scorsese and DiCaprio will be re-teaming once more time for an adaptation of Jordan Belfort‘s 2008 memoir The Wolf of Wall Street.
But we already learned that something new is coming!
Apparently, Scorsese’s next movie will be Silence, an adaptation of Shusaku Endo‘s novel of the same name. I know this sounds familiar to you, and you might remember us writing about that back in February 2009.
International A Little Bit of Heaven Trailer
The international trailer for A Little Bit of Heaven, a romantic dramedy from director Nicole Kassell (The Woodsman, The Closer, Cold Case), has debuted online and can be watched using the player below!
Synopsis: Marley (Kate Hudson) is a fun-loving girl with a great job, brilliant friends and a wicked sense of humour. A single girl through and through, she’s never been a great believer in love and likes to keep things casual. But when she’s diagnosed with cancer, she wonders if life is trying to tell her something about the elements that she’s excluded from her world. As she begins the long journey back to health, and spends more and more time in hospital – and, more importantly, with her gorgeous doctor, Julian (Gael Garcia Bernal) – she begins to wonder if he could be what’s missing from her life. After some serious soul-searching and a few deep and meaningful conversations with God (Whoopie Goldberg), she decides that if she can face cancer, she can certainly give love a shot.
Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna in Casa de mi Padre
We already had a little chat about the upcoming Matt Piedmont‘s Spanish comedy Casa de mi Padre or if you prefer “House of my father.”
So, by now, you know that Will Ferrell is attached to star in it, and to produce the whole thing.
Today, we’re here for a little casting update, because Diego Luna (that we all remember from Milk) and Gael Garcia Bernal (best known from Blindness) are joining the project as well!
MAMMOTH Movie Trailer and Poster
Below we have the trailer and poster for Lukas Moodysson new drama “Mammoth”
Synopsis: “Mammoth” revolves around successful New York couple Leo (Gael García Bernal) and Ellen (Michelle Williams). Leo is the creator of a booming website, and has stumbled into a world of money and big decisions. Ellen is a dedicated emergency surgeon who devotes her long shifts to saving lives. Their 8-year old daughter Jackie (Sophie Nyweide) spends most of her time with her Filipino nanny Gloria (Marife Necesito), a situation that is making Ellen start to question her priorities. When Leo travels to Thailand on business, he unwittingly sets off a chain of events that will have dramatic consequences for everyone.
Day-Lewis And Del Toro To Star In Scorsese’s Silence
Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro are negotiating with Martin Scorsese to star in his next movie “Silence.” Gael Garcia Bernal is also in talks to star in Scorsese’s upcoming film.
The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Shusaku Endo which was adapted by Jay Cocks.
The drama is set in the 17th century as two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity.
“Silence” would mark the third time that Day-Lewis and Scorsese have worked together. They previously collaborated on 1993′s “The Age Of Innocence” and “Gangs Of New York” from 2002, for which Day-Lewis was nominated for an Oscar. The film would be the first collaboration for Martin Scorsese and Benicio Del Toro.
