“The Incredible Hulk” director Louis Leterrier is helming the new film, which started shooting a few days ago in London.
“Clash of the Titans” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26th, 2010.
Ralph Fiennes As Hades In Clash of the Titans Remake
Ralph Fiennes is in negotiations to star as Hades, the lord of the underworld, in Louis Leterrier’s the Greek epic “Clash of the Titans” remake for Warner Bros. But Fiennes’ involvement in “Clash of the Titans” isn’t exactly confirmed.
If he signed on, Fiennes would join a cast that includes Sam Worthington as Perseus, Gemma Arterton as Perseus’ love interest Io, Mads Mikkelsen as Draco and Alexa Davalos as Andromeda.
This is a sign that this remake is a far departure from the original, since Hades as well as Goddes Io weren’t in original 1981 version. The original film directed by Desmond Davis was the 11th highest grossing film of 1981 in the US.
Liam Neeson has signed on to portray the Greek God Zeus - Hades’ brother and father of Perseus - the wise and mighty king of the gods who was portrayed by Laurence Olivier in Davis’s 1981 film. But Neeson’s status is unclear following the death of wife Natasha Richardson.
“Clash of the Titans” which will be directed by Louis Leterrier who previously worked on “The Incredible Hulk,” “Transporter 2,” and “Danny the Dog” begins shooting in the UK later this month and is currently scheduled for a March 2010 release date.
Gemma Arterton Joins “Clash Of The Titans” Remake
Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) who picked up the best newcomer prize at Empire Awards, will join Louis Leterrier-directed “Clash of the Titans,” which is remake of Desmond Davis-directed movie of the same name from 1981.
Arterton will play demi-goddess Io, Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation) will star as Perseus. Liam Neeson was reputed to have been offered the role of Zeus but it’s not yet known if he will commit to the role, given his current tragic circumstances.
Gemma Arterton described the role as “the coolest part”.
“Io’s not in the original film. Perseus falls in love with her… It’s a really great part,” she told.
Arterton also said that in contrast to the 1981 original - Harry Hamlin played Perseus - this one is “much more about Perseus’ mission:
“And how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that. So it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that…The script is very different”
Warner Bros. Pictures is planning a March 26, 2010 release.
Prince of Persia - Two New Shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal Pics
The first two photos of a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal in Walt Disney Pictures‘ “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” have popped online over at The Huffington Post.
Set in medieval Persia, the story of an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Which is why after the prince was tricked by a dying Vizier to unleash the Sands of Time that turns out to destroy a kingdom and transforms its populace into ferocious demons. In his effort to save his own kingdom and redeem his fatal mistake, it’s up to the prince and the princess to return the sands to the hourglass by using the Dagger of Time, which also gives him a limited control over the flow of time.
“I over-prepared myself because I never knew how much they were going to ask me to do, so I just made sure I’d be hopefully able to do anything,” Gyllenhaal said of his new physique. “I guess I’ve gotten buff. There’s a lot acrobatics in the movie - a lot of running up walls, and jumping on things and Parkour, so it requires muscularity, but it requires a lot of aerobic ability too.”
