Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer has decided to move the release of fantasy action feature “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” from June 19th, 2009 next summer to one year later on May 28th, 2010.

This means that instead of going up against “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” next summer, the adaptation of the best selling video game will instead be appearing in theaters a week after Shrek Goes Fourth and a week before Thor.

Officially, Disney said it wants to allow plenty of time for post-production considering that the tentpole will require extensive special effects to create its fantasy world and setpieces.

Decision to delay the release by a year caught some by surprise, although the calendar could continue to see major reshufflings because of the ongoing labor strife in Hollywood. Studios may want to allow for extra cushion in case of any production delays. Read the rest of this entry

Alicia Keys May Sing Bond Song

Posted by Allan Ford 14 July, 2008 (0) Comment

Alicia KeysAnother day and another speculation concerning who’s got the theme tune gig for the up and coming “Quantum Of Solace”.

Alicia Keys is reportedly in final negotiations to lend her voice to the title track of the new Bond movie,  which stars British actor Daniel Craig as the suave secret agent, E! Online said.

Alicia is not the first singer to be linked to the song.

Beyonce Knowles, Leona Lewis, Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Annie Lennox have all reportedly been in talks with Bond bosses to sing the title track of the 22nd Bond film.

Although no official announcement has been made, a source told the entertainment news Web site, “I believe Alicia is the winner.”

Nothing’s confirmed yet but she’d sure be a safer bet than the unpredictable bee-hived bombsite that is Amy Winehouse. Despite that statement and the fact that Winehouse doesn’t seem to be reliable enough to do anything much these day’s aside cramming class-A narcotics into the nearest vein, the girls voice would do a fine job of evoking those halcyon Bond day’s when a suitable diva would be recruited to bellow a memorable tune into the very core of your soul. Memorable certainly isn’t a tag I’d attribute to any recent Bond film would you?

“Quantum of Solace” starring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Olga Kulylenko and Gemma Arterton will hit the theathers on November, 7th 2008.

'Quantum Of Solace' movie still (Daniel Craig)

They’ve been to Panama and Baja California, Mexico, with plans to shift next to Italy and Austria before returning to London’s famed Pinewood Studios for more stage shooting.

Director Marc Forster says setting the climax in the wasteland of Chile’s Atacama Desert fuses the plot with the internal life of Bond.”I chose the desert because it’s isolated, you feel lonely, and that’s what Bond is struggling with himself,” Forster says. “In the desert, it’s unforgivable. You’re out there, and you might die. “

Gemma Arterton Q&A

Posted by Allan Ford 30 January, 2008 (0) Comment

New Bond girl spills the beans on Quantum of Solace.

Gemma Artenton

UK, January 29, 2008 - Gemma Arterton has only been acting for six months, but the 22-year-old has already won plum parts in Brit flicks St. Trinian’s, 3 and Out and Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming RocknRolla. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also playing a Secret Service agent in new Bond film Quantum of Solace, and IGN interviewed her on set last week to discuss landing one of cinema’s most sought after roles.

You’ve been a Bond girl for a little while now — is it still exciting or is the novelty starting to wear off a bit?

Gemma Arterton: No, every day there’s something exciting that happens, like I just got asked to present at the BAFTAs, which I can’t do because I’m filming this, but little things like that. I’ve only just left drama school and have been working professionally for six months, so all of this is out of this world. It doesn’t feel real still. That’s why I wasn’t too nervous on the first day because I just felt like it was a game. The size of it hasn’t hit me yet, but I’m sure that it will.
