“Up In The Air” Poster

The first official poster for “Up In The Air” movie starring George Clooney has hit the web today and we can expect the trailer on September 10th 2009.

The comedy is directed by Oscar nominated director Jason Reitman who also wrote the script based on Walter Kirn‘s novel of the same name.

Ryan Bingham (George Clooney), a corporate hatchet man who loves his life on the road but is forced to fight for his job when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he’s worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.

But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr. Fox’s wild animal instincts and he soon slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief, landing him and his family in a lot of trouble.

Burn After Reading | George Clooney and Frances McDormand

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to follow up a movie as dark as “No Country for Old Men” with one as downright silly as “Burn After Reading,” which is why it works for the Coen brothers. Joel and Ethan have done this before — they made “Raising Arizona” after “Blood Simple“; “The Big Lebowski” followed “Fargo” — and if there’s one thing these brothers savor, it’s upending their audience’s expectations. The only thing people didn’t like about the almost uniformly beloved “No Country” was the film’s controversial ending and its handling of a sudden off-screen death of one of the main characters. In “Burn After Reading,” they push it farther, refusing to show you the chain of events that set the film’s entire blackmail plot into motion. Continue Reading…

Ewan McGregorEwan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges are in negotiations to star opposite George Clooney in the “Men Who Stare at Goats.”

Based on the book by the Guardian columnist Jon Ronson, “Men Who Stare at Goats” is set in Iraq and centers on Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor), a desperate reporter who stumbles upon the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), who claims to be a former secret U.S. military psychic soldier who was reactivated post-9/11.

The book’s title refers to the telepathic ability to kill farmyard animals with just a thought.

“Men Who Stare at Goats” chronicles the two men’s travels through Iraq and offers glimpses into the supposedly real secret Army unit tasked with creating soldiers with paranormal powers.

George Clooney Joins “Up in the Air”

George Clooney | Venice Film Festival 2008

Jason Reitman (Juno) plans to direct “Up in the Air” with the hopes that George Clooney will star in an adaptation of the 2001 Walter Kirn novel, which Reitman adapted.

Clooney will play a corporate downsizer who is obsessed with collecting frequent flier miles.

The project is set up at the Montecito Picture Company, which has its first-look deal with DreamWorks.

Apparently Kirn’s novel experienced quite a journey to production that started around 2004. It was bought and packaged with a spec script by “The Longest Yard” scribe Sheldon Turner, with Griffin producing.
