Matt McGloin at ComicBookNews.com has confirmed that the below pictures are official concept art from the upcoming DC feature film “Green Lantern.”
We get to see Abin Sur, Tomar-Re and Kilowog, the members of the Green Lantern Corps.
The Green Lantern Corps:
The Guardians of the Universe created the Green Lantern Corps around 3 billion years ago and since then they have essentially become the galaxy’s police force. The Guardians realized their failure with the Manhunters was due to their creation’s single-mindedness, lack of emotion (such as fear and courage), and most importantly the absence of morality and honor in the androids. The Guardians chose to assign sentient beings that excelled in fearlessness and morality. These beings would then watch over their sector of the galaxy. The sector that includes Earth is Sector 2814. The mission of the Green Lantern Corps is to protect the galaxy from interstellar threats of all kinds, from individual planets’ problems to forces threatening entire systems.
Green Lantern: Mark Strong in Talks to Play Sinestro
Director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness) told the MTV Splash Page that Sherlock Holmes star, Mark Strong was in final talks to play villain Sinestro in “Green Lantern” and dismissed rumors that Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) was in talks for the role.
Blake Lively Joins Ryan Reynolds In “Green Lantern”
Blake Lively has been cast to play opposite Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan in the upcoming film, “Green Lantern.”
She will be the leading lady in the highly-anticipated DC Comic’s superhero movie which is a Warner Bros. project.
Lively will play Carol Ferris, who runs her father’s aerospace company that hires Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), a test pilot who later becomes her love interest and the intergalactic policeman known as the Green Lantern.
Ryan Reynolds Is The Green Lantern
Ryan Reynolds has been chosen over two other finalists, Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake, for the role of Hal Jordan in “The Green Lantern” – live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.
Raynolds recently starred in a comic book movie, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” where he played Deadpool. He followed that by starring opposite Sandra Bullock in the romantic comedy “The Proposal.”
GREEN LANTERN Concept Art
The Green Lantern concept art is just too good to pass up. Illustrator Brian Murray posted a number of images that he created for Green Lantern screenwriter and (potential) director Greg Berlanti on his official website. The images were part of the presentation package Murray created for Berlanti, some of which were used to get Berlanti the directing gig to begin with. Though casting rumors for the JLA version of the Green Lantern indicated that the character would be reimagined as African-American, these illustrations show a square-jawed white man– pretty much your typical image of a superhero.
