Dreamworks has released the synopsis for Jon Favreau‘s Cowboys and Aliens and it gives us details on the plot, along with revealing who Harrison Ford will be playing. Along with Ford, the film also stars Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Clancy Brown and Noah Ringer.
1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.
Sam Rockwell Joins Cowboys & Aliens
Sam Rockwell has been cast in the Dream Works adaptation of the graphic novel Cowboys & Aliens, which is set to become Jon Favreau’s next project.
As you see, straight from Iron Man 2, well-known director and actor are set to continue working together immediately.
Rockwell got himself some good company, since he’s going to join cast that already includes Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Noah Ringer and the legendary Harrison Ford.
The story, based on the graphic novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg “starts in 1800s Arizona, where the local cowboys, headed by gunslinger Zeke Jackson, and the indigenous Apache tribe have been feuding fiercely for quite a while.
Their skirmish is interrupted, however, by the appearance of a spaceship, commanded by an alien creature that’s bent on enslaving the human race. It’s time for a six-gun shoot-out between these cattle rustlers and space invaders, and there might even be a temporary peace between the cowboys and Indians as they both take aim at these extraterrestrial uninvited guests. “
Writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof rewrote and expanded the character when they learned Rockwell was interested in the part.
Noah Ringer Joins Cowboys and Aliens
Yeah, we already had a little chat about that upcoming Jon Favreau‘s project titled Cowboys and Aliens, but we are here now to share something interesting with you, guys. The Last Airbender star Noah Ringer will join a cast that already includes Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde.
Now, that’s what we call busy little man, for sure! He already has that trilogy bookmarked, and now, he’s going to be a part of a very interesting story which is expected to start shooting this summer.
So, let’s refresh our memory. This is going to be kind of Sci-fi Western, based on the Platinum Studios Comics graphic novel. Yeah, definitely that kind of mix, since the movie will explore what happens when the traditional Old West enemies – cowboys and Native Americans found the prairie, get attacked by aliens in mid-1800s Arizona.
For this kind of script we have to thank Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof who wrote the whole thing, and on the other hand, we have to thank Favreau for this refreshing cast that includes well-known Indiana Jones Harrison Ford, as well as Bond Daniel Craig.
It already sounds like aliens have no chance, huh?
Harrison Ford Joins Cowboys and Aliens
It’s official now, Harrison Ford will join Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde in the sci-fi action movie titled Cowboys and Aliens that Jon Favreau is directing for Universal.
And if you’re still sceptical about it, then check director’s words:
“Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens. Okay? He is. Please don’t tell anybody”.
Sorry, Favreau, we’re not good in keeping a secrets! So let’s see what’s so speciall about this comic.
Extraordinary Measures Review
Given its generic title and based-on-true-life plot about a dad who tries to save the lives of his sick children, “Extraordinary Measures” sounds a lot like a TV movie. In a sense, it is. The film, which opens tomorrow and stars Brendan Fraser as the crusading dad and Harrison Ford as a curmudgeonly scientist developing a cure for the rare Pompe disease, was produced by CBS Films, a new production company created by the television network.
Extraordinary Measures is a smart film that doesn’t go for the easy tears or the over dramatic violins. It presents you with an unfortunate situation and tells you a story about a family who fights tooth and nail to make the impossible a reality…read more [ScreenCrave]
Extraordinary Measures offers a bromantic twist as Harrison Ford’s scientific researcher and Brendan Fraser’s desperate father join forces to create a cure for Pompe, a deadly childhood disease. Ford plays a scientist and Fraser a biotech entrepreneur united in their fight against the ticking clock.
The men couldn’t be more different – Dr. Bob Stonehill is a brilliant but miserable medical researcher with few social skills and an ugly temper, and John Crowley is a mild-mannered executive driven by love into action. He believes so strongly in taking action that he manages to push his naturally reserved personality up several notches to raise research funds…read more [M&C]
Sean Connery and Harrison Ford To Return For Indiana Jones 5?
Sean Connery and Harrison Ford are set to return to the “Indiana Jones” franchise.
Back when “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was being written, George Lucas revealed that the script had Indy’s father in it, which meant that Sean Connery (Professor Henry Jones Senior) would need to reprise his role. Unfortunately, 79-year-old veteran actor refused and the script was quickly re-written. However, creators on the next movie, the fifth in the hugely successful franchise, are planning to bring Henry back.
Rachel McAdams And Harrison Ford In Morning Glory
Rachel McAdams will star opposite Harrison Ford in the J.J. Abrams-produced comedy “Morning Glory.”
McAdams will play an aspiring news producer who tries to save a failing morning show by gaining control of its feuding news anchors. Ford will play one of those talking heads, an egotistical and iconic newsanchor. Reese Witherspoon had previously been in contention to play the female lead.
Ford doesn’t have many comedies to his name. “Hollywood Homicide” and “Six Days, Seven Nights” have been critical and box office failures so let’s hope “Morning Glory” will be good script for him.
Indiana Jones 5 is in The Works !?
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Harrison Ford revealed that George Lucas is currently thinking up ideas for a “Indiana Jones 5.” Since “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” made $770 million worldwide, it should be no surprise that a fifth film is in the works.
Apparently George Lucas is already hard at work on coming up with a story for a fifth film. Ford says,
“It’s crazy but great… George is in think mode right now.”
Harrison Ford’s New Movie
Harrison Ford will star and produce drama “Crowley,” which Tom Vaughan is in negotiations to direct for the big screen.
Film is based on the true story of John and Aileen Crowley, whose two children had a rare genetic disorder. Rather than give up hope that nothing could help his children, John Crowley found a researcher (Harrison Ford) with a potential cure.
