Scott Frank to Write New Houdini Film for Director Francis Lawrence

Hollywood is definitely interested into this famous escape artist and magician. That’s why we already have another Harry Houdini project, and Columbia Pictures is behind it.

At this moment we have no idea when they expect to begin filming on Houdini, but we do know that this movie will have some great team on board!

According to the latest reports, Francis Lawrence will be in the director’s seat, while Scott Frank (man behind the Minority Report story) will be in charge for the script.

Noah Oppenheim to Write The Secret Life of Houdini

Back in April 2009 we had a little chat about The Secret Life of Houdini.

By now you know that Summit Entertainment has secured the rights to William Kalush’s book The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero about legendary magician Harry Houdini, and that they’re planning to make it an action movie.

The project has long been in the works, with Jeff Nathanson writing the script, but now it looks that Summit has Noah Oppenheim writing a draft.

So, no wonder that guys at Amazon describe this book by saying:

DreamWorks Buys J. Michael Straczynski Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle Script Voices From the Dead

DreamWorks has acquired an original script by J. Michael Straczynski, titled Voices from the Dead.

This interesting script is actually a fictional story of magician Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes creator) who teamed up with a psychic to solve bizarre murders in New York during the 1920′s.

Harry Houdini was magician and escapologist, stunt performer, actor and film producer noted for his sensational escape acts. He was also a skeptic who set out to expose frauds purporting to be supernatural phenomena.

The Secret Life of Houdini Movie Adaptation

After the vampire “Twilight” books, Summit Entertainment has secured the rights to the book “The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero” which is about legendary magician Harry Houdini. Summit plans to bring it to the big screen not as a biopic, but an action movie.
