Six New “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” Photos

Today, we have six more shots from the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”
Official plot synopsis:
Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.
David Yates, who last helmed “Order of the Phoenix,” returns for the sixth movie.
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” hits theaters on November 21st 2008.

New Harry Potter 6 Picture

Yesterday, Warner Bros released the new picture from the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” It features Harry (Daniel Radcliffe). Well, it is better than nothing!
In the new film, Harry Potter (Radcliffe) begins his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He soon discovers an old book marked mysteriously “This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince” and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort’s dark past.
David Yates, who last helmed “Order of the Phoenix,” returns for the sixth movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 21st, 2008.
Emma Watson To Star In ‘Napoleon and Betsy’
Emma Watson has lined up her first big movie role outside the Harry Potter series. She’s taking over the role previously inhabited by Scarlett Johansson in Napoleon and Betsy.Watson will play Betsy Balcombe, a spunky young noblewoman who falls for famed military midget Napoleon while confined to the small British Isle of St Helena, where the latter is exiled. Johansson reportedly stepped down from the part because it was written as too young for her, although she’ll still produce the film, which starts shooting in the autumn.
Sounds like a good move for Watson and it’s rather an impressive stamp of approval that she’s in a position to take roles offered to someone of Johansson’s level. A good performance in this could set her off to a good start once the Harry Potters are all done.
Harry Potter ‘As Addictive As Drugs’

Harry Potter can be as addictive as being hooked on drugs, reports The Mirror.
Dr Jeffrey Rudski revealed that one in ten Potter fans were experiencing withdrawal symptoms after JK Rowling’s book
series came to an end with last year’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Of the 4,000 fans polled many admitted to spending up to four hours a day on Potter-related activities.
“I feel like someone close to me has died,” one fan remarked, knowing the character would not appear in any more books.
Dr Rudski said another 20% of Potter fans were “near-addicts”.
“Addiction to a drug is no different to an addiction to Harry Potter,” he added.
The Harry Potter series began in 1997 with the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. After huge commercial success the character moved to cinemas in 2001 with Daniel Radcliffe playing the young wizard.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth installment in the film franchise, will be released this November.
‘Harry Potter’ Not On Horror Products Ban List in China
China’s top press and media watchdog on Monday said fantasy films such as the “Harry Potter” series are not included in its recent nationwide sales ban on horror audio and video products.
Traditional Chinese myths, fantasy and science fiction stories are “fundamentally different” from the definition of horror videos, which usually “involve alien-looking characters and fictional story telling, both specifically for the sole purpose of terror,” the Beijing Times reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed official with the General Administration of Press and Publications.
Chinese classics like “Journey to the West,” “The God’s Story” and “Erotic Ghost Story” have made remarkable achievements in terms of literature, art and ideology while films such as the Harry Potter series can also help inspire imagination and creativity among children and teenagers, the report said. Del Toro In Talks For ‘The Hobbit’?
The Hollywood Reporter is, well, reporting that Guillermo Del Toro is now officially in talks to direct both The Hobbit and its sequel. This. Is. Awesome.
Their story doesn’t really hold any concrete facts or give us any new information on the film, but it’s very encouraging to hear that Del Toro is at the very least on the shortlist of directors who might handle the prequels to Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Del Toro already has a lot of films on his plate, so he’d have to clean house a little if he took this on. Principal photography is set to start in 2009. Del Toro is currently finishing off ‘Hellboy 2′ and then had plans to make a new version of Frankenstein, a long-planned adaptation of HP Lovecraft’s At The Mountain’s Of Madness and ghost story 3993.
He’d also expressed some interest in directing the final Harry Potter movie. But when we spoke to the series producer David Heyman recently he said that Del Toro was sadly not really in the running because “he’s rather busy”, despite Del Toro telling Heyman that he’d like to make the movie because “I want to kill your children”. We guess you can’t have everything. We gladly sacrifice all of those other projects to see Del Toro’s take on ‘The ‘Hobbit.
