Helen Mirren Joins “Red”
Helen Mirren has joined the cast of “Red,” big screen adaptation of the WildStorm/DC Comics book.
The movie will also star Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman.
The “Red” comic book was written by noted author Warren Ellis and illustrated by Cully Hamner.
It focuses on Paul Moses, a retired CIA operative that is forced back into the espionage game after he is betrayed by the government he had dedicated his life to protect.
Bruce Willis plays Moses in the film, while actor Morgan Freeman plays the CIA higher-up that orders the execution of Moses.

Russell Crowe In State of Play Trailer
Universal Pictures has released the trailer for “State of Play,” the new crime thriller, based on the BBC mini-series of the same title, starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck. The movie is directed by Kevin Macdonald from the screenplay adaptation by Tony Gilroy and Matthew Michael Carnahan.
The film tells the story of a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman’s mistress.
Ben Affleck, who replaced Edward Norton, plays the fast-rising politician who is caught up in a murder conspiracy. Crowe plays a journalist who is investigating the killing. Brad Pitt was attached to play the reporter role but also dropped out at the last minute.
Helen Mirren to star in John Madden’s “Debt”
Miramax has tapped Helen Mirren to play a Mossad agent in “The Debt” which will be directed by John Madden.
Miramax acquired worldwide rights to “The Debt,” an English-language remake of Israeli thriller “Ha-hov” about three Israeli Mossad agents tracking down a Nazi war criminal over 30 years, in April.
Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldmanis (”Stardust” co-writer) will pen the script.
“Helen Mirren is the perfect choice for the central role – a national celebrity and retired Mossad agent, a formidable and dignified woman grappling with years of emotional disappointment, suddenly confronted by a powerful and unexpected choice,”
said Madden.
Filming is set to start next year in the U.K., Germany and Israel.

Earlier today, you watched here a new trailer and now we have poster and three new pics from Warner Bros’ fantasy movie “Inkheart” starring Brendan Fraser, Helen Mirren, Paul Bettany and Jim Broadbent.
Based on the book by Cornelia Funke, “Inkheart” is a timeless adventure tale of imagination that centers on Meggie, a young girl whose father has a secret ability to bring characters from books to life when he reads them aloud. But when a power-hungry villain from a rare children’s fable kidnaps Meggie’s father to bring others out of the boundaries of fiction, she and a disparate group of friends both real and magic embark on the kind of adventure she has only read about in books to save him and set things right.
David Lindsay-Abaire penned the bigscreen adaptation of German author Cornelia Funke’s fantasy novel, the first of a trilogy. “Inkspell” was published last fall, and “Inkdawn” will be out next year.
Ink Heart Official Trailer
The official trailer for the upcoming “Ink Heart” directed by Iain Softley starring Brendan Fraser, Helen Mirren, Paul Bettany and Jim Broadbent, has been released.

“Inkheart” revolves around a girl whose father has the power to bring characters from books to life by reading aloud. When a villainous ruler and his band of rogues from a children’s fable kidnap the man, his daughter and her friends, both real and imaginary, must rescue him.
“Ink Heart” is scheduled to hit theaters on January 9th, 2009.

The first pics of Russell Crowe filming the upcoming movie ‘State of Play‘, being directed by Kevin McDonald.
Helen Mirren plays Crowe’s boss and managing editor; Robin Wright Penn, the congressman’s estranged wife and Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, other reporter-types.

Other shots for Play took place at the Library of Congress and the Maine Avenue Fish Market.
