‘Horton Hears a Who’ Remains Top Movie In U.S.
20th Century Fox’s animated adaptation of Dr Seuss‘ beloved children’s book retained the top spot at the box office for a second weekend in North America, preliminary figures released Sunday showed. “Dr Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who” took in about 25.1 million dollars in U.S. and Canadian theaters this weekend, pushing its total ticket sales to about 86.5 million dollars over two weeks, according to Los Angeles-based box office tracking firm Media By Numbers.
Meanwhile, three new releases debuted in the number two, three and four spots respectively at the box office this week.
“Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns” from Lions gate nailed the number two spot, as the family comedy about an inner city single mother struggling to keep her kids off the street sold a projected20 million dollars over the three-day period.
The 20th Century Fox thriller “Shutter” barely nudged out Paramount’s comedy “Drillbit Taylor” for the number three spot. The film opened with 10.7 million dollars, closely followed by “Drillbit” with 10.2 million dollars.
Rounding out the top 5 movies was last week’s No. 2 “10,000 BC.” The prehistoric adventure-action took in 8.7 million dollars this weekend and has grossed a total of 76.1 million dollars over three weeks in release. Continue Reading…
‘Horton Hears a Who!’ Extended Look

An imaginative elephant named Horton hears a faint cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Although Horton doesn’t know it yet, that speck houses an entire city named Who-ville, inhabited by the microscopic Whos, led by the Mayor. Despite being ridiculed and threatened by his neighbors, who think he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to save the particle… because “a person’s a person, no matter how small.”

Four TV Spots for ‘Horton Hears A Who’
Four new TV spots for the upcoming adaptation of Horton Hears a Who has popped up online courtesy of a new official website from 20th Century Fox. The studio has also unleashed icons, wallpapers, online games and more. The film will feature the voices of Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, Carol Burnett, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Isla Fisher, Dan Fogler, Amy Poehler, Dane Cook, Jaime Pressly and Jonah Hill. Jimmy Hayward & Steve Martino directed the Fox adaptation, based on a screenplay penned by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio.
Plot Summary: The film is based on the beloved book, first published in 1954, by Ted Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss. “Horton Hears a Who” is about an imaginative elephant who hears a cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Suspecting there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community which thinks he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to help.
Horton Hears a Who will hit theaters March 14, 2008.
