Paul Feig to Direct Third Bridget Jones Movie
Bridget Jones Diary, remember that one? Yeah, I’m sure you do, so let me ask you one thing guys, what do you think about Bridget 3? You like that?
Well, ok, if you do like the idea, then I’m sure you’ll be happy to hear that Bridesmaids helmer Paul Feig shares your opinion about this project, and, according to the latest reports, he’s very much interested in directing the sequel!
So, thanks to DailyMail, we learned Feig is ‘beyond keen’ to make a movie in London, and that he is in the middle of very complex negotiations about making Bridget 3.
They also add that the status of the film at the moment is “purely rumour because no deals involving Feig or the film’s stars Renee [Zellweger], Colin Firth and Hugh Grant have been sorted out.”
Hugh Grant Leads Voice Cast for The Pirates! Band of Misfits
Hugh Grant will voice the lead role alongside an all-star cast in The Pirates! Band of Misfits, the new stop-motion, 3D, animated film produced by Aardman Animations for Sony Pictures Animation. The film, which will be distributed by Columbia Pictures, will be released March 30, 2012 in North America.
Hugh Grant, starring in his first animated role, is the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It’s a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they battle a diabolical queen (Imelda Staunton) and team up with a haplessly smitten young scientist (David Tennant), but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!
Third Bridget Jones Film in the Works
Renee Zellweger has reportedly consented to star in a third Bridget Jones film – though producers have guaranteed they won’t make her packing the pounds this time.
Renee Zellweger was said to have had a kind of hesitations about signing up to a third film as she was unwilling to gain weight. According to The Sun, the film will recognize the new designed Bridget, by featuring her in the opening scenes after getting her ideal body shape.
Both, man from heaven Colin Firth and Hugh Grant – also known as Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver – are set to reprise their parts, with a source saying:
Colin is really keen on a third film. He thinks it will be a great flick to get his teeth into after all the success with The King’s Speech, as it’s so different. He’s getting very excited about the idea of marriage and kids in the script now all the characters are older.
Firth spoke to BBC prior to being Oscar Winner:
I think the idea of Mark and Daniel and Bridget in advanced stages of deterioration could be quite fun. We’re making a comedy after all.
With plot ideas still being open to discussion, the scribes are said to be setting up a big twist between the three main characters, which includes Bridget getting pregnant but is not sure whether long-term boyfriend Mark is the father or ex-flame Daniel.
