Robert Downey Jr. Talks IRON MAN 3
Robert Downey Jr. is definitely a very busy man these days. I mean, it’s not all about The Avengers, we’ll soon have a chance to watch him in Iron Man 3, not to mention that it must be boring to wear that weird costume all the time.
Well, ok, this movie is set to open on May 3rd, 2013, but I guess that we’re all interested to find out more details about the whole thing as soon as possible.
So, thank God someone invented the interviews, because we finally have something interesting to share with you…
As you already know, Jon Favreau won’t be back for the third installment of a franchise and writer and director this time is Shane Black. It will be interesting to see where he’ll take the whole thing, but Downey Jr. looks quite optimistic.
Drew Pearce will Replace Shane Black to Write Script for Iron Man 3
An UK comedy writer, Drew Pearce has now been tasked with the engagement, and he’s once again right in the Marvel Studios pocket.
Pearce did write the screenplay for Marvel’s Runaways and, possible, that’s why Marvel hired him. He’s also known for his work on the U.K. superhero series No Heroics including a few more TV producing credits (Lip Service and Damage Control).
Early thoughts were that new Iron Man 3 director Shane Black might also write the screenplay for this upcoming sequel, but Marvel Studios has hired Pearce to scribe the further adventures of Tony Stark. Sooner rather than later, after shooting The Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark.
Shane Black Directing Iron Man 3!
Earlier this month we reported that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang writer/director Shane Black, was in the running to direct the third installment in Marvel Studios’ popular Iron Man franchise, Iron Man 3. Deadline now confirms he is in “final negotiations” to lock in the role of director for the threequel.
It’s still not clear whether Black will also write the script.

Shane Black to Direct Iron Man 3
Marvel Studios offers Shane Black the director’s chair for Iron Man 3 as it has been confirmed that Jon Favreau will not be directing Iron Man 3 and moved on to play with Disney and Magic Kingdom.
Marvel is obviously looking at options to fill the empty role, and one choice is Shane Black. Iron Man 3 would re-team Black and Downey, who worked together on the well-regarded Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which Black directed and co-wrote. In 2005, he received the Best Original Screenplay award for that crime/dark comedy. The cast includes Robert Downey, Jr. as well as Val Kilmer.
Favreau’s Iron Man movies were centered on character, first and foremost, so Black’s humorous, character-driven writing style where he often adds comments and jokes about the situations taking place in the story, would be a perfect fit. The alcohol, self-destroying Tony Stark would fit together with such unlikely Shane Black heroes as desperate police officer Martin Riggs and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’s clumsy fake detective Harry Lockhart, also played by Robert Downey Jr. Black seems to have an all in one.
Jon Favreau Confirms Iron Man 3
It’s been reported that Jon Favreau has confirmed that there will be a third instalment in the “Iron Man” franchise.
MoviesOnline caught up with Jon Favreau who revealed the latest on the upcoming “The Avengers” movie and “Iron Man 3.”
The director, who is currently shooting “Iron Man 2” said that the trilogy may be completed before “The Avengers” goes into production.
