Based on his Brit List script, the story follows an ex-criminal (Mark Strong) who is forced to return to London from his Icelandic hideaway when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. This gives a dogged detective (James McAvoy) one last chance to catch the man he’s always been after.

Principal photography on feature film Filth, written and directed by Jon S. Baird (Cass) is officially announced today. James McAvoy (Arthur Christmas), Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin), Jim Broadbent (The Iron Lady), Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), and Imogen Poots (Jane Eyre) star.

Shooting the film based on the best-selling novel by Irvine Welsh has commenced in Glasgow, Scotland as well as on location in Sweden, Belgium and Hamburg.

The 3D, CG-animated family comedy Arthur Christmas, an Aardman production for Sony Pictures Animation, added a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Animated Feature to a growing list of accolades. The year’s best reviewed animated movie now playing in wide release, Arthur Christmas also won a nomination from The Broadcast Film Critics Association for a Critics’ Choice Award on Tuesday and was named Best Animated Feature by the San Diego Film Critics on Wednesday.

This latest recognition follows nominations for 6 Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Writing, from ASIFA-Hollywood, announced on December 5. Sony Pictures and Aardman Animations have unleashed six new posters for Arthur Christmas, their 3D adventure which arrives in theaters over the Thanksgiving holiday. The film  follows the titular character (James McAvoy) as he teams with Santa’s dad (Bill Nighy) to deliver gifts to one girl who was passed by when Saint Nick’s high-tech operation made its first round. (Jim Broadbent and Hugh Laurie also offer their voices, as Santa and Santa’s Enterprise-esque ship operator, respectively.)
