‘Avatar’ Details Online….Poster ?!

Posted by Allan Ford 4 March, 2008 (2) Comment

Avatar - posterWhile James Cameron himself has said in the past that he’s been keeping Avatar’s secrets close to his chest, it was only a matter of time before things started leaking here and there. Now, as the principal photography winds down and the long haul of post-production begins on his ambitious 3D sci-fi epic, effects blog Marketsaw has posted a few details about the movie. We won’t say too much and do bear in mind that it’s entirely possible Cameron is leaking false information to throw us off the scent, but if what the blog reports is true, Avatar should look amazing.

But then, it’s James Cameron’s return to feature films. It’s not going to be Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes.

Brand New ‘Avatar’ Artwork And An Early Script Review

Posted by Allan Ford 20 February, 2008 (0) Comment

‘Avatar’We’ve already seen bit’s and pieces of ‘Avatar’ artwork floating around and maybe even a possible glimpse of one of the ‘Avatar’ aliens (do you remember, it looked like some mad blue predator!) With the vagaries of the internet and those tedious legions of fan boy wannabe’s equipped with the latest cracked version of Photoshop, it’s a fair old task parting wheat from chaff.

This latest offering comes via the Italian site Bad Taste and was supposedly ripped from Fox’s 2009 release line up. The official plot synopsis also came with it and its Italian translation tells us it’s…

“The story of an injured ex-marine who finds himself involved (against his will) with men colonizing an alien planet. Finally, he chooses to change his battle array, leading the alien race in a battle for life.”

Fox are certainly betting big bucks on James Cameron’s 3D ‘Avatar’ with a $200 million budget in place, big things are going to be expected of it. We know Cameron can do the business but it’s been a while since the lad has delivered product. Word is also saying that ‘Avatar’ is going to be replete with so much CGI that it will be practically an animated film. Read the rest of this entry

‘Doomsday’ Movie Trailer

Posted by Allan Ford 19 January, 2008 (0) Comment

Neil Marshall who directed two of the best British horror/sci-fi films in recent memory, ‘Dog Soldiers’ and ‘The Decent’ returns with a post-apocalyptic vision of the future in ‘Doomsday.’

‘Doomsday’ movie still

In this trailer it starts with a strong nod to ‘28 Weeks Later’ as a virus ravaged Scotland is sectioned off to avoid contaminating the rest of the UK, not a bad idea?

Marshall’s love of James Cameron comes to the fore as heroine Rhona Mitra leads a crack team into the forbidden zone many years later in search of a cure in sequences ‘inspired’ by Aliens.

Then the whole thing goes a bit ‘Mad Max’ as a vagabond band of ’survivors’ lead by Malcolm McDowell go mental and much mayhem ensues.

Looks pretty decent, despite some wooden turns by the largely British cast, judge for yourself.
