Ryan Bingham (George Clooney), a corporate hatchet man who loves his life on the road but is forced to fight for his job when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he’s worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.
George Clooney Joins “Up in the Air”
Jason Reitman (Juno) plans to direct “Up in the Air” with the hopes that George Clooney will star in an adaptation of the 2001 Walter Kirn novel, which Reitman adapted.
Clooney will play a corporate downsizer who is obsessed with collecting frequent flier miles.
The project is set up at the Montecito Picture Company, which has its first-look deal with DreamWorks.
Apparently Kirn’s novel experienced quite a journey to production that started around 2004. It was bought and packaged with a spec script by “The Longest Yard” scribe Sheldon Turner, with Griffin producing.

Based on Walter Kirn‘s corporate satire novel, Up in the Air centres on a career transition counselor who finds contentment in highly-pressurised airplane cabins and becomes obsessed with racking up one million frequent flier miles.
Jason Reitman ‘Juno’ Director Teaming Up With Jim Carrey for New Comedy
The director of the drama comedy “Juno” Jason Reitman is said to be handling a new comedy project and this time, he will be working together with comic genius Jim Carrey.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Reitman has come aboard “Pierre Pierre” as the co-producer, while Carrey will topline the Fox Atomic’s movie.
In the producer seat, Reitman will be assisted by his Hard C partner Dan Dubiecki as well as Escape Artists’ Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal.
It was reported that the “Thank You for Smoking” director is also attached to be director of the film that resolves around a self-indulgent French nihilist who is delegated to bring back a stolen Mona Lisa, while he is in the process of cherishing his native country once again.
Reitman Enraged – Genie Awards ignores ‘Juno’
Though has been nominated and won many prestigious awards, the drama comedy “Juno” was left out at the 28th Annual Genie Awards’ nominations. The ineligible reportedly made the film’s director Jason Reitman to be extremely upset towards the people behind the awards claimed to be the Canadian Oscar.
According to press release, the director was reportedly enraged with the reason given for the ruling out of his film. Reportedly, though the Ellen Page-starring film features Canadian theps, it wasn’t considered for the nods because it wasn’t financed by Canadian dollars.
