Jeremy Renner as Top Choice to Topline The Bourne Legacy
Universal Pictures’ offer went out to Jeremy Renner to topline series spinoff The Bourne Legacy.
It seems Tony Gilroy‘s top choice was Oscar Issac, currently starring in Sucker Punch, but Universal Pictures didn’t approve of Issac.
It’s pretty obvious why Universal would want Renner since he’s a two-time Oscar nominee in Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.
Peter Stormare in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
We reported that cast of the upcoming Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is getting bigger and it’s time to update the whole thing.
Why? Well, guess what, we just learned that Peter Stormare (Fargo) has joined the cast that already includes Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen and Ingrid Bolso Berdal.
Tommy Wirkola‘s upcoming project picks up the fairy tale siblings 15 years after their traumatic gingerbread house incident, which provoked them to become witch bounty hunters.
It will be modern technology in an old style – the idea is, they’ve grown up and they hunt witches. It’s a hybrid sort of old-timey feeling, yet there’s pump-action shotguns.
Ingrid Bolso Berdal Joins Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
Are you ready for another witch? Ok, then, check out the latest casting update!
Norwegian actress, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, has joined the cast of the upcoming Tommy Wirkola‘s project Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D.
Yeah, we already wrote about the whole thing, so you know the movie stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton and Famke Janssen as the leader of the witches.
So, now, we learned that Berdal will portray one of the witches described as a “superbad killing machine.”
Judi Dench and Michelle Monaghan Join Better Living Through Chemistry
More casting news for today! Judi Dench and Michelle Monaghan will join previously announced Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Garner in the indie thriller Better Living Through Chemistry.
The script from David Posamentier and Geoff Moore was on last year’s Hollywood Black List of best unmade scripts but now, ‘Chemistry’ is Posamentier and Moore’s first produced script.
The $8 million project is produced through Occupant Films’ Felipe Marino, Joe Neurauter and Keith Calder (The Wackness, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane).
At this moment now not much is known about the whole thing except that:
“…the noirish thriller is about a pharmacist (Renner) who begins a prescription drug-fueled affair with a trophy wife (Garner) that leads to the two plotting to kill her husband.”
Gemma Arterton in Hansel and Gretel
More casting updates folks!
Lovely Gemma Arterton (recently seen as Tamara Drewe) has been cast as Gretel in Paramount’s Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.
Arterton will star opposite Jeremy Renner in movie that has already been described as “a dark action movie that picks up with the fairy tale siblings years after the traumatic childhood incident has turned them into bounty hunters”
D.W. Harper is writing with Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay and Kevin J. Messick producing through their Gary Sanchez Prods. McKay previously explained that:
Josh Holloway in Mission: Impossible 4
Josh Holloway: lost and found? Lost star, Holloway is in final negotiations to star as a member of the Impossible Mission Force and join the likes of Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton in the fourth film in the Mission: Impossible series!
And you already know that this project is quite a mystery at this moment, but still, we have some rumors…
So, let’s start with some familiar facts. The upcoming fourth installment in the spy thriller series Mission: Impossible titled (by us) Mission: Impossible 4 is coming, the movie is set up at Paramount, and lead actor Tom Cruise is set to reprise his role as Ethan Hunt.
Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk To Be Motion-Capture In The Avengers
The Avengers is definitely one of the projects that keeps pure attention over the last few months, and we’re quite happy to finally hear more interesting details about the whole thing.
This time, thanks to Mark Ruffalo, the third person set to play Bruce Banner, we have this kind of announcement for you guys: he will perform the dual roles in The Avengers feature, or, if you prefer his words:
“I’m really excited. No one’s ever played the Hulk exactly, they’ve always done CGI. They’re going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I’ll actually play the Hulk. That’ll be fun.”
Michael Nyqvist in Mission: Impossible 4?
Another casting rumor for today, only this time we’re talking about the possible villain in the upcoming (and by the way) 4th Mission: Impossible or if you prefer Aries.
Michael Nyqvist, actor best known from the role of Mikael Blomkvist in the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but he is now set to play the bad guy in Brad Bird‘s film!
It was also announced that Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov would be playing a role, and Nyqvist’s casting indicates that producer and star Tom Cruise and director Brad Bird are looking to round out their cast with an international flavor.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master Postponed Indefinitely
Ok, we have some bad news, and it goes like this:
The Master, a movie by Paul Thomas Anderson, (that we already wrote about), has been “postponed indefinitely”!
That’s exactly what Jeremy Renner, (one of the stars attached to this project) had to say about the movie, and added:
“I was really bummed about that. It really kind of stalled because when we were rehearsing – Phil, Paul and myself – we kept coming up against a wall that we couldn’t overcome. Or at least Paul couldn’t overcome.”
The film was set to follow “a charismatic intellectual who hatches a faith-based organization that begins to catch on in America in 1952.
The core is the relationship between the Master and Freddie, a twentysomething drifter who becomes the leader’s lieutenant. As the faith begins to gain a fervent following, Freddie finds himself questioning the belief system he has embraced, and his mentor.”
