Jon Favreau Confirms Iron Man 3
It’s been reported that Jon Favreau has confirmed that there will be a third instalment in the “Iron Man” franchise.
MoviesOnline caught up with Jon Favreau who revealed the latest on the upcoming “The Avengers” movie and “Iron Man 3.”
The director, who is currently shooting “Iron Man 2” said that the trilogy may be completed before “The Avengers” goes into production.
“There’s an Iron Man 3. Here’s how I know. When they make the option deals, they include Iron Man 3. So I know they’re planning on 3. Whether that would be before or after Avengers, they’ve announced that Avengers is next but they pushed back The Avengers once, which I thought was encouraging,” he said.
The on-screen teaming of Marvel Comics characters such as “Iron Man,” “Thor” and “Captain America” will also reportedly depend upon production of upcoming films based on individual projects directed by Kenneth Branagh and Joe Johnston.
A few months ago we reported that Marvel rescheduled the release dates of some of its self-produced feature film properties through 2012.
“My involvement has yet to be determined on that project. You’re not going to know about Thor for two years, what that really means. And Captain America, they haven’t even started prepping yet. So there’s a lot of discovery that has to take place before you can understand what Avengers really is,” Favreau added.
However, “Iron Man 2″ will be released as scheduled on May 7, 2010.

“The men want it to be, like, ‘Ooh, the girls are fighting over Tony,’ but it’s not as standard as that,” Paltrow tells EW. “There’s a weird male catfight fantasy,”
Downey Jr. agrees, saying what differentiates the franchise from other superhero series can be summarized as follows:
“We’re horny. Not, like, can’t-bring-your-kids horny, but just…horny.”

First Image Of Mickey Rourke As Whiplash In Iron Man 2
The first picture of Mickey Rourke (Whiplash) as Iron Man’s foe in “Iron Man 2” has arrived, featuring a shot of Whiplash wearing his armor suit with a power pack on his chest that looks similar to that of Iron Man’s.
Director Jon Favreau says:
The technologies are definitely related, and that’s part of the core theme of the film
Whiplash is the alter ego of Ivan Vanko, a Russian who, Favreau says, “has constructed his own version of a suit.” Among the creative alterations: a pair of whips, powered by the suit’s glowing chest piece, expected to keep Iron Man cracking. Whiplash “is going to light them up,” says Rourke.
The Guardian recently spoke with Mickey Rourke about playing the villain in Iron Man 2. Here is an excerpt:
And Iron Man 2, in which he plays Tony Stark’s tattooed Russian nemesis, Ivan, is possibly the biggest movie yet in Rourke’s new career. For Rourke this means going to Russia, drinking vodka and visiting jails to study prison tattoos and find his character’s tics. “I decided to do half my role in Russian,” he beams, “and that’s hard because the Russian language doesn’t roll off the English-speaking tongue very easily. I spent three hours a day with a teacher, and after two weeks I know four sentences! Let me see, it’s sort of like… ‘Yezzamee menya… Yezzamee manya obott… Er, nemaboootty menya…
This goes on for quite some time. “It means,” he says, finally, “If someone kills me, don’t wake me up, because I’d rather be dead than live in your world.
“Iron Man 2″ hits theaters May 7, 2010 and also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling, John Slattery, Kate Mara, Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Jackson.
