Benjamin Walker | Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Actor Benjamin Walker (who appeared in Flags of Our Fathers, All Saints Day and Coach) has been hired by Fox to play the lead role as Abe in the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter movie.

A few months ago we posted an article about The Fox adaptations of Seth Grahame-Smith fantasy graphic novel “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.” It was reported Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch) would direct, Tim Burton would produce, and Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to adapt his book into a screenplay. It was also said that the movie should be shot in 3D with a $69 million budget.

Meanwhile, Fox was looking for actors who could play 16th President if 16th President hunted vampires in his extra time. Fox was screen testing the following actors for the role of young Abe Lincoln in Timur Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” : Adrien Brody, Timothy Olyphant, Josh Lucas, James D’Arcy (Into the Storm), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster), and Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers). You probably remember our latest report about the upcoming Clint Eastwood‘s J.Edgar, so you already know that the place of Hoover’s secretary is still open…until now.

Today, we’re here to report that actress Naomi Watts has joined the cast of this movie and that she will portray Helen Gandy, the longtime personal secretary to FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and the role that was previously offered to Charlize Theron.

Watts’ character is being described as “genteel manner and pleasant voice contrasted sharply with this domineering presence. Yet behind the politeness was a resolute firmness not unlike his, and no small amount of influence.

Many a career in the Bureau had been quietly manipulated by her. Even those who disliked him, praised her, most often commenting on her remarkable ability to get along with all kinds of people.

Ken Howard Joins J. Edgar Cast

So here you go – more casting updates on the upcoming Clint Eastwood‘s biopic J. Edgar!

We previously reported that Leonardo DiCaprio, Ed Westwick, Damon Herriman, Judi Dench, Armie Hammer and Josh Lucas are already the part of the cast, and today, we’re here to add another name to this list – Ken Howard, president of the Screen Actors Guild since September 2009.

Howard will portray Harlan F. Stone, who served as U.S. Attorney General in 1924-25 before being appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, in the biopic about FBI director J. Edgar Hoover.

This is not such a surprising news, since you probably remember this man from the title Grey Gardens, for which he won an Emmy, and he will soon be appearing on 30 Rock.

Susan Sarandon, Bill Pullman and Josh Lucas join ‘Peacock’

Susan SarandonSusan Sarandon, Bill Pullman and Josh Lucas have joined the cast of psychological thriller Peacock.

The Mandate production features Cillian Murphy as a bank clerk who finds a woman living in his back yard when a train crashes into it. Ellen Page also stars.

Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama) will take the role of a policeman friend of Murphy’s character, while Pullman will play his supervisor.

Sarandon will be the mayor’s wife, who runs the women’s shelter in the small town of Peacock, Nebraska.

The film will be directed by Michael Lander from a script he wrote with co-producer Ryan Roy.
