Natalie Portman Set For ‘Wuthering Heights’
Natalie Portman is attached as the lead in a new film version of “Wuthering Heights.”U.K. production company Ecosse Films, whose projects include “Mrs. Brown,” “Becoming Jane” and the upcoming “Brideshead Revisited,” is backing the pic. HanWay Films is handling worldwide sales.

Up next for Portman is a turn opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in Jim Sheridan’s “Brothers.”
The most recent bigscreen adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic matched Ralph Fiennes with Juliette Binoche, but the Goldwyn release grossed just $624,643 in 1989.
The definitive film take remains William Wyler’s 1939 version starring Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, which earned eight Oscar noms.
Goldwyn brings ‘Paris’ to U.S.
Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the U.S. rights to Cedric Klapisch’s “Paris,” starring Juliette Binoche.The film, which premiered this month at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Rendez-Vous With French Cinema, was written and directed by Klapisch and produced by Ce Qui Me Meut’s Bruno Levy. It is slated for release in the fall.
“Paris” features interconnected stories of characters taking a deeper look at how to live their lives. It also stars Romain Duris, who plays a young Parisian diagnosed with a life-threatening illness that changes the way he sees everyone around him.
Fabrice Luchini, Albert Dupontel, Francois Cluzet, Karin Viard, Melanie Laurent, Gilles Lellouche, Zinedine Soualem and Julie Ferrier also star.
The film, which opened Feb. 20 in France, has made a strong showing at the French boxoffice. It marks the sixth collaboration between Klapisch and Duris. Read the rest of this entry
