Joel Edgerton Locs, Jessica Chastain in Talks for Bin Laden Film
While the Republicans are calling for an investigation into whether the Obama administration granted Sony Pictures high-level access for a film on the mission that killed Osama bin Laden, The Warrior thesp Joel Edgerton has officially signed on to star in the pic.
His name has been attached back in May, but the script was unfinished and it appeared that Edgerton’s schedule would clash with shooting and he had been replaced by Aussie thesp Jason Clarke in the lead role. But Edgerton passed on the 300 prequel and joins Clarke as the only official cast member.
Chris Pratt in Talks to Star in KILL BIN LADEN
Known as dim-witted, but lovable Andy Dwyer on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt is up for a role that would cast him in a completely different light. Pratt is reportedly in negotiations to play the lead role in Kathryn Bigelow‘s feature about the death of Osama Bin Laden, unofficially called Kill Bin Laden.
As you’ve probably already heard, the movie centers on the U.S. military’s takedown of Osama Bin Laden, leader of the organization al-Qaeda responsible for numerous terrorist attacks including 9/11.
Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden Film Casts Jason Clarke
The first actor to officially sign on for the Kathryn Bigelow’s still-untitled film about a Navy SEAL operation meant to kill Osama Bin Laden is Aussie thesp Jason Clarke. Clarke will play a terrorist hunter in service of the SEAL Team Six, who tracked the Taliban leader to Pakistan and eliminated him in his private residence.
Kathryn Bigelow’s Kill Bin Laden In Theaters In Late 2012
We already had a little chat about Kill Bin Laden, the upcoming Kathryn Bigelow‘s movie that will, as you know, focus on the black ops mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden.
So, by now you’re familiar with the fact that Bigelow is once again working with her The Hurt Locker partner Mark Boal.
Now, we’re here for a little official update that goes like this – the above mentioned team is going to start filming this summer and the movie will be released in late 2012.
Kathryn Bigelow’s Kill Bin Laden
Ok, they already describe this as one of the most anticipated and potentially controversial movies, but I’m a little bit skeptical about the upcoming Kathryn Bigelow‘s movie with working title Kill Bin Laden.
One thing is for sure – this lady definitely has a lot of luck!
First of all – she won an Oscar for rather boring movie, and now, just when she started to work on a movie described as “the hunt for Bin Laden” – o, well, President Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed!
So, once again we have Bigelow on board together with Mark Boal (and who else?) for “black ops thriller” that “was written about the exact special ops unit that did kill him, although the original script was about a failed mission.”
Yeah, we know all of that thanks to Variety, and as you already guess, they will now have to rewrite the whole thing, because – the mission was a success after all (?). Happy ending?
Hunting for Bin Laden to be Included in Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal’s New Project
A former Playboy journalist is probably on the right track again!
A former painter, who was familiar with his work before his outstanding experiences as a freelance journalist — embedded in American bomb squad during the two weeks of the war in Iraq, having turned one of his Playboy articles into the short-lived TV shows The Inside in 2002.
Well, these two rejoin forces to make the film that won seven Academy Awards, which opens with a quotation from War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, book by another war journalist:
The rush of battle is a potent and often lethal addiction, for war is a drug.”
Directors and Producers Write Open Letter Protesting Premium VOD
From time to time directors and producers from all over the world sit down and write an open letter. When was the last time that actually happened? I have no idea, but I do know that right now there’s an open letter all over the internet that comes straight from 23 leading directors and producers, and that list includes James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, Michael Bay, Guillermo del Toro, Peter Jackson, Michael Mann, Gore Verbinski and for the full list check out the rest of this report.
First of all let me tell you that all of them have signed an open letter opposing a pricy new premium VOD service that puts movies from Warner Bros., Sony, Universal and 20th Century Fox in homes only 60 days after a film’s theatrical release.
Here’s what they all had to say in a letter:
“We are the artists and business professionals who help make the movie business great. We produce and direct movies. We work on the business deals that help get movies made. At the end of the day, we are also simply big movie fans.
Lately, there’s been a lot of talk by leaders at some major studios and cable companies about early-to-the-home “premium video-on-demand.” In this proposed distribution model, new movies can be shown in homes while these same films are still in their theatrical run. In this scenario, those who own televisions with an HDMI input would be able to order a film through their cable system or an Internet provider as a digital rental. Terms and timing have yet to be made concrete, but there has been talk of windows of 60 days after theatrical release at a price of $30.
Tom Hanks in Kathryn Bigelow’s Triple Frontier
Tom Hanks has signed up to star in Triple Frontier. Surprised? Well, why?
We already had a little chat about the upcoming Kathryn Bigelow‘s movie, so you already know that some great names were involved in our reports, like Sean Penn, Will Smith, Javier Bardem and Christian Bale.
But, at this moment, Tom Hanks is the only one who’s officially joined the project.
Triple Frontier (or, now called Sleeping Dogs) is described as “an ensemble picture set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge – making ‘la triple frontera’ difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.”
Hurt Locker Oscar-winner Mike Boal is in charge for writing, while Charles Roven will produce the whole thing.
Johnny Depp to star in Kathryn Bigelow’s Triple Frontier
Well, this definitely sounds perfect.
Johnny Depp is in talks to star opposite Tom Hanks in an upcoming Kathryn Bigelow crime drama (yeah, The Hurt Locker director Bigelow!) titled Triple Frontier.
We already had a little chat about this project, so you probably remember that names like Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale are also being discussed for the roles in the movie.
So, Triple Frontier tells the story of an organized crime area in the border zone between Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil, where the Iguazu and Parana rivers come together and make for a hard to keep an eye on mecca for organized crime.
