Ken Howard Joins J. Edgar Cast
As we said – we’ll definitely keep an eye on this one.
So here you go – more casting updates on the upcoming Clint Eastwood‘s biopic J. Edgar!
We previously reported that Leonardo DiCaprio, Ed Westwick, Damon Herriman, Judi Dench, Armie Hammer and Josh Lucas are already the part of the cast, and today, we’re here to add another name to this list – Ken Howard, president of the Screen Actors Guild since September 2009.
Howard will portray Harlan F. Stone, who served as U.S. Attorney General in 1924-25 before being appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, in the biopic about FBI director J. Edgar Hoover.
This is not such a surprising news, since you probably remember this man from the title Grey Gardens, for which he won an Emmy, and he will soon be appearing on 30 Rock.
Josh Lucas as Charles Lindbergh in J. Edgar
J. Edgar Hoover biopic is coming, and we’re covering every single detail about this Clint Eastwood‘s project.
Today, we’re here to report that Josh Lucas (Stealth, Glory Road) has been cast as aviation icon Charles Lindbergh.
Busy guy, indeed, you might remember that Lucas is also up for the titular role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Let’s all check out some facts about this quite interesting character.
J. Edgar Hoover was the first Director of the FBI of the United States and instrumental in founding the FBI in 1935, where he remained director until his death in 1972.
Armie Hammer on Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar
Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar Hoover biopic titled J. Edgar (at least in this moment) is coming, and we already had several reports about the project, so you already know that Leonardo DiCaprio is set to play Hoover, while The Social Network star Armie Hammer will play Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s assistant, closest friend, and rumored lover.
Ok, let’s stop right here, because this young actor has revealed more information on the movie, so check it out!
Here’s what Hammer has to say about the whole thing:
“I’m playing Toulson up to his elderly age! Makeup stuff comes within the next couple weeks. We’re definitely doing a lot of wardrobe stuff right now, but the makeup stuff we haven’t done yet.”
Johnny Depp Top Money-Making Star of 2010
Johnny Depp has been voted the Top Money-Making Star of 2010 in Quigley Publishing Company’s 79th Annual Poll of Motion Picture Exhibitors. This is Depp’s sixth appearance in the Poll, including two other first place finishes in 2007 and 2006. Exhibitors felt Depp was responsible for more traffic to theatres than any other Hollywood star based on his performances this year in “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Tourist.”
The Quigley Poll, conducted each year since 1932, is an annual survey of motion picture theatre owners and film buyers, which asks them to vote for the ten stars that they believe generated the most box-office revenue for their theatres during the year. It has been long regarded as one of the most reliable indicators of a Star’s real box-office draw because the selections are made by professionals whose livelihood depends on choosing the films and actors that will bring audiences to their theatres. The Quigley Poll appears annually in Quigley Publishing Company’s International Motion Picture Almanac and on our web site: www.quigleypublishing.com
Damon Herriman Joins Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar Hoover Biopic
Damon Herriman, guy who you probably remember from FX’s Justified, has joined Clint Eastwood’s upcoming J. Edgar Hoover biopic that we already wrote about.
So, by now, you know that Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer are already on board and according to the previous reports, there’s still an offer on the table for Charlize Theron.
According to The Playlist, “Herriman has been cast as Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of abducting and killing Charles and Anne Lindbergh’s baby in March of 1932. His conviction later came into question however, with police accused of doctoring evidence as well as ignoring and intimidating witnesses.
Mark Millar’s Superior Locked Big Hollywood Star
Comic book creator Mark Millar is quite busy these days.
He currently has Nemesis in the works but on the other hand, he already revealed that a director for the big screen adaptation of his Superior comic book will be announced in January.
Thank God for Twitter! Because now we know another thing – Millar’s new project will have a big actor on board, or if you prefer his words:
“Huge News: Superior movie just locked down most high profile actor of 2010. Official release in January”
Jon Hamm has been rumored to star, but, most high profile actor?
Charlize Theron and Armie Hammer in Hoover Biopic?
We’re sure you all remember that Clint Eastwood‘s Hoover biopic, now titled J.Edgar, right?
Ok then, now get ready for a little update!
The Social Network star, Armie Hammer and lovely Charlize Theron are in talks to star in the upcoming film.
Ok, we were kidding, this is huge update!
So, you already know that Leonardo DiCaprio is set to play the role of director of America’s FBI, boss who has been played by several actors in the past, from Ernest Borgnine and Bob Hoskins through to Billy Crudup, who took a supporting slot as a young Hoover in last year’s Public Enemies.
Hoover was known for harassing political activists and wire-tapping public figures, but also credited with building the FBI into a large and efficient crime-fighting agency, and with instituting a number of modern innovations to police technology, such as a centralized fingerprint file and forensic laboratories.
Joaquin Phoenix Won’t Star in Eastwood’s Hoover
So what’s happening with that Clint Eastwood‘s biopic Hoover?
We have no idea, but we did have several reports about the whole thing, and the latest one had Joaquin Phoenix attached to play Leonardo DiCaprio’s lover on a big screen.
But, Eastwood was surprised, when asked about recent reports Phoenix was being considered for the role, answered: “No. I don’t know where that came from…didn’t he become a rapper?” Sorry, but…what?
Let us remind you once again. Milk writer, Dustin Lance Black scripted biopic of the cross-dressing former head of the F.B.I., J.Edgar Hoover, the movie should film before the end of the year at Warner Bros, and it will follow:
“Tolson’s unqualified, and is thought to be a homosexual, but Hoover offers him a job anyway. There’s an instant attraction between the two men, and Toulson becomes Hoover’s right hand man throughout much of his career. Due to Hoover’s deeply closeted nature, however, the relationship is never consummated.
Johnny Depp to star in Kathryn Bigelow’s Triple Frontier
Well, this definitely sounds perfect.
Johnny Depp is in talks to star opposite Tom Hanks in an upcoming Kathryn Bigelow crime drama (yeah, The Hurt Locker director Bigelow!) titled Triple Frontier.
We already had a little chat about this project, so you probably remember that names like Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale are also being discussed for the roles in the movie.
So, Triple Frontier tells the story of an organized crime area in the border zone between Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil, where the Iguazu and Parana rivers come together and make for a hard to keep an eye on mecca for organized crime.
