Eli Roth

Variety is reporting that “Hostel” director Eli Roth has boarded the Quentin Tarantino-directed “Inglorious Bastards” as a baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter in the drama for the Weinstein Co. and Universal Pictures.

Brad Pitt is in talks to play Aldo Raine, leader of a rogue band of Jewish-American soldiers who wreak havoc on the bad guys in Nazi-occupied France.

Eli Roth wil play the part of Sgt. Donnie Donowitz. This is a pretty big coup for Eli Roth to be starring in a film along side the likes of Brad Pitt. We will have to wait and see how big the role is and how much of a part he plays in the films story. Read the rest of this entry

Leonardo DiCaprio Eyeing “Twilight Zone” Remake

Posted by Allan Ford 26 July, 2008 (0) Comment

tzleonardodicaprio.jpgLeonardo DiCaprio is set to resurrect the hit sci-fi TV series “The Twilight Zone” for the big screen.Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way are in the early stages of seeking material for a feature take on one or more episodes from the classic TV series.

The Twilight Zone ran in the US between 1959 and 1964 - each episode set ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, with a sci-fi twist. Shows always began with an introduction by creator Rod Serling, whose deep voice became The Twilight Zone’s trademark. The TV series was revived in the 80s and again in 2002-2003 but the original show is repeatedly broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel, creating a new fan base for the franchise.

The studio and production company are quietly putting out word to creators that they are looking for pitches and script ideas based on the show for feature development. The companies are not seeking to remake an episodic movie, as the only big-screen version of the show did 25 years ago, but rather hope to build one continuing story line based on one or more episodes.

Leonardo DiCaprio as Captain America?

Leonardo DiCaprio is Marvel’s top choice to play Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the forthcoming superhero jaunt, says Latino Review.

Marvel, who previously announced plans to release First Avenger: Captain America on May 6, 2011, reportedly wants the Blood Diamond star to lead the film as US soldier-turned-superhero Steve Rogers.

Going further on the casting speculations, Latino Review also added that besides DiCaprio, there is one other name that is being considered to be Captain America. That particular person would be “Troy” star, Brad Pitt. Pitt, as had been reported previously, allegedly is on the run for the leading role of another Marvel’s superhero film “Thor“, which is set for June 4, 2010 release. Still, any confirmation on both Pitt’s possible casting reports has yet been outed.

On the superhero flick itself, “The First Avenger” is scheduled to be released on the silver screen on May 6, 2011. The movie has been said to stay true to its original comic book story. Hence, it will be set during World War II and tell the background story of the red, white and blue-costumed superhero. Additionally, no director has been signed for the project.
