PUNISHER: WAR ZONE Review
Here is the good news for Frank Castle fans. Punisher: War Zone is far and away the best movie based on Marvel Comic‘ vigilante anti-hero The Punisher to date.
Of course, anyone who has cable-surfed upon the 1989 Dolph Lundgren embarrassment or was re-gifted the DVD of 2004′s Thomas Jane vehicle The Punisher knows that’s a backhanded compliment if ever there was one.
War Zone is a relentlessly grim and unapologetically violent mess of a movie that pays tribute to comic book creators Garth Ennis and Tim Bradstreet’s dark, twisted take on the character as well as give the cinematic finger to the first two films. But it’s still not very good…full story [newsarama]

After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. A new clip from “Punisher: War Zone” has been released on the official site. The clip features an introduction by director Lexi Alexander, who helmed the 2005 “Hooligans,” and features a scene in which Frank Castle unleashes a barrage of bullets on countless bad guys.

“Punisher: War Zone” Still Has Its R Rating
The earlier reports suggesting that upcoming “Punisher: War Zone” inclined towards the PG-13 rating may not be true after all and director Lexi Alexander has not been kicked off the film. It was just a temporary internet-wide scare.
After seeing Comic Con violent trailer, I’m not sure how anyone could’ve expected them to cut it down to PG-13 anyway, but I guess that’s how rumors on the internet go.
Providing the denial is Steve Gainer, the film’s cinematographer, who posted a clarifying information in the Raw Studios forum board. Parts of his message read,
“The film is not (nor could it ever be) PG-13. Today I saw a cut that ran 91 minutes…The film is most certainly not all exploding heads, but will reveal a great deal of Franks personna and pain.”
