Tim Burton Will NOT Direct Maleficent, David Yates Rumored
Tim Burton is one busy guy. So, don’t expect him to direct that Maleficent project that we already wrote about few months ago!
We just learned that Burton is no longer attached to direct the Disney fantasy that would have teamed him with Angelina Jolie. And don’t ask us why, because we have no idea.
We could only presume that Frankenweenie is one big, big project.
So, as you already know, Disney is developing Maleficent as a starring vehicle for Angelina Jolie, which is, according to THR, a live-action take on Sleeping Beauty, telling the fairy tale from the point of view of the evil witch who threatened to kill the princess.
Disney years ago put a name to the witch, who had gone anonymous in the various tellings. Since then, the green-skinned queen of evil who morphs into a dragon has become one of the most popular Disney villains of all time.
Angelina Jolie As the Evil Queen in Disney’s Maleficent?
Angelina Jolie as Evil Queen? You must admit that this could be more than fun.
Jolie, is reportedly interested in playing this role:
“The actress has been circling Maleficent since last spring, the postmodern take on Sleeping Beauty, and is still keen on to take the role of the titular villain,” LA Times says.
Both Tim Burton and Angelina Jolie had last spring been rumored to join the project.

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland hits theaters next month. Until then, every week Disney will release new photos, clips, TV spots and behind the scenes videos that reveal more about the characters and the story. The latest batch includes some photos of main characters, concept arts, TV spot and a new videos. The videos centres on Alice herself, but features little we haven’t seen before.
“Alice in Wonderland” Commercial With Avril Lavigne’s “Alice” Song
Today we have ABC’s first look at Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland which will arrive in theaters on March 5th in both Disney Digital 3D as well as regular 2D.
The commercial shows never before seen footage from the film and Avril Lavigne’s song from the movie. The song is titled “Alice (Underground)” and is the first song on the “Almost Alice” soundtrack from the film.
