Alice in Wonderland, The Red Queen

Walt Disney Pictures has released five new hi-res images from Tim Burton’s 3D re-imagining of “Alice in Wonderland.”

“Alice in Wonderland” movie plot: From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic 3D fantasy adventure “Alice in Wonderland”, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time. Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. The all-star cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Crispin Glover. The screenplay is by Linda Woolverton.

Walt Disney Pictures has released a new poster and image for “Alice in Wonderland” featuring Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp).

The story centers on the now-19-year-old Alice. Attending a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types, she runs after a white rabbit into a hole and ends up transferred once again to Wonderland. Still, she has no recollection of this place she visited 10 years before.

Walt Disney Pictures has released the Japanese poster from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”.

Plot summary: The story centers on the now-17-year-old Alice. Mia Wasikowska – Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland

Mia WasikowskaMia Wasikowska is in final talks to take the lead role in Tim Burton‘s “Alice In Wonderland.”

The Disney film, Tim Burton’s adaptation of Lewis Carroll‘s fantasy novel, will be filmed using a combination of live-action and motion-capture footage and presented in Disney Digital 3-D.

The “Lion King” writer Linda Woolverton will pen the script with Richard Zanuck, Joe Roth and Jennifer and Suzanne Todd acting as producers.

“It’s just such a classic, and the imagery is so surreal. I don’t know, I’ve never seen a version where I feel like they got it all. It’s a series of weird adventures, and to try to do it where it works as a movie will be interesting. I think it’s an interesting challenge to direct,” said Burton.

Columbia Buys Linda Woolverton Spec

Linda WoolvertonScribe Linda Woolverton, known for her work on animated fare like “The Lion King,” has sold an untitled pitch to Sony’s Columbia, with Joe Roth and Team Todd on board to produce.The studio is keeping the story line under wraps, but it is known to be a live-action project. Elizabeth Cantillon and Devon Franklin are overseeing for the studio.

This is the second project Woolverton has sold with Roth and Team Todd’s Suzanne and Jennifer Todd producing. Disney last year picked up her prestrike pitch for a revisionist sequel to “Alice in Wonderland.” Tim Burton is in preproduction and set to direct the digital 3-D movie.

Woolverton’s credits include Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and “Mulan,” as well Universal‘s “Curious George.” She is repped by CAA.
