Movie Photo Gallery has been updated with 36 new photos from upcoming action / crime/ thriller Machete.
Machete is based on the “fake” trailer in Robert Rodriguez’s 2007 “Grindhouse,” featuring Danny Trejo and Jeff Fahey reprising their original roles.
The feature version of the trailer finds Machete (Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) a corrupt Senator. Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Cheech Marin) his “holy” brother, and April (Lindsay Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Jessica Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.

Robert Rodriguez has released a special “illegal” Cinco De Mayo themed trailer for his upcoming exploitation film, Machete.
The movie is based on the “fake” trailer in Rodriguez’s 2007 Grindhouse. Machete is a Mexican ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade, who hides out as a day laborer, who is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator. 20th Century Fox Lands Machete!
Deadline Hollywood Daily’s Nikki Finke is reporting that 20th Century Fox has bested five other studios in a bidding war to distribute independently-financed Robert Rodriguez‘ “Machete,” an expansion of the fake trailer that he created for Quentin Tarantino and his experimental film “Grindhouse”

“Machete” is based on the “fake” trailer in Rodriguez’s 2007 Grindhouse. The highly skilled Federale Machete (Danny Trejo) is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!

Robert Rodriguez To Make Machete
When Robert Rodriguez announced his “Predator” remake there was also mention of another film, “Machete” which will be going forward this summer it seems.
Rodriguez will create a feature out of the blade- wielding antihero who appeared in a mock trailer that was part of “Grindhouse.” Rodriguez wrote the feature script and will direct the film alongside Ethan Maniquis, his longtime editor.
Danny Trejo will reprise his role from the trailer. “Machete” will follow the title character, an ex-Federale who now hides out as a day laborer after a corrupt politician double-crossed him.
