Marion Cotillard And Rachel McAdams In Woody Allen’s Next Film

Posted by Fiona 3 March, 2010 (0) Comment

When we have this kind of title, with Woody Allen in it, that usually means some kind of mystery project. So why end this tradition? Allen refuses to share any information with us, but we can smell that something good is cooking…

So we heard that Oscar winning Marion Cotillard will have the honour to be some kind of a leading role.

Every minute we get some kind of news that refers to this untitled movie. But still, there’s nothing special to write about, since we only have speculations that include actors that will, most likely, going to be the part of Woody’s story.

On the other hand, there are some rumors that even Carla Bruni – Sarkozy has been courted for a role! Yes, you read that correctly.

Posted by Fiona 20 February, 2010 (0) Comment

Laurence Fishburne (21, Armored, Tortured, CSI: Miami; NY, Las Vegas, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible III) is in talks to join Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Steven Soderbergh’s deadly virus thriller Contagion.

If his schedule works out, Fishburne will be taking on a “major role.” His role is said to be as big as all of the other actors.

No specific plot details, but the action-thriller takes place over four continents and centers on a terrifying deadly virus outbreak.

Damon, Winslet, Cotillard, Law, Law and Fishburne are going to “play an international team of doctors and scientists brought in by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) once a sickness outbreak starts.”

The script for Contagion was written by Scott Burns (The Informant! and The Bourne Ultimatum).

The movie will shoot later this year.

Warner Bros will be distributing Contagion and helping finance the $60 million budget.

“Nine” Review

Posted by Allan Ford 30 December, 2009 (0) Comment

Nine Photo

The all-star cast of Rob Marshall’s high-kicking musical extravaganza Nine, adapted from the 1982 Broadway show of the same name based on Fellini’s 8 ½, get their moment in the spotlight, one by one. Some are worth waiting for — Marion Cotillard’s two wronged-wife numbers are the movie’s hidden heart and soul. But without her luminous contribution, we would be stuck with the hollow dimensions and thrusting cleavage of an expensively dressed revue night.
Like Cotillard, Daniel Day-Lewis sings and moves immaculately as the harassed Fellini figure, Guido Contini, who just can’t seem to get going on his hypothetical ninth movie. He feels thwarted by the public pressure on an artist of his iconic stature, and also by his self-defeating instincts as a serial philanderer, imagining torrid flings with anything in lingerie…read more [Telegraph.co.uk]

Director Rob Marshall (with the help of Bill Condon’s outstanding script) made Chicago one of the best films of 2002. The songs were memorable, the tone was sharp, the performances were strong, the script made a welcome criticism of the criminal celebrity, and Marshall managed to turn almost every musical number into a showstopper. Because John Kander had created such fantastic songs, it was up to Marshall to meet the challenge of unlocking the creative potential of each one. Nine works the opposite way with Marshall trying to use his visual flair as a distraction from the terrible music. The only time he has a Chicago-moment is with the film’s only good number, “Be Italian”. It’s Nine’s only showstopper and as the film drags on you wish it actually had stopped the show. Instead, Nine is a slog where you find yourself thinking, “Okay, so which actresses haven’t had their musical number yet…”…read more [Collider]
