The Ides of March is coming, and I’m sure we’re all happy because of that. After all, it’s always nice to watch a political drama (we hope a good one), especially when you know that George Clooney is in it, and by the way – behind the camera as well. Am I right or…right?

We all know this movie will hit the theaters on October 7th, which is less than a month, so it’s quite logical that we have 4 new clips for the whole thing.

The official synopsis part is not so interesting. It goes like this: “During the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, an up-and-coming campaign press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate’s shot at the presidency.”

The Ides of March

Today we have the trailer and poster for the upcoming George Clooney‘s film The Ides of March that will make its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

The Ides of March is based loosely on the 2004 Democratic primary campaign of Howard Dean, the play focuses on dirty campaign tricks in Des Moines, Iowa, just weeks before the state’s Democratic caucuses.

The Ides of March is one of those projects that we already wrote about, and something that definitely deserves our full attention.

Especially now, when we finally learned that George Clooney‘s upcoming movie will have an honor to open the 2011 Venice Film Festival on August 31. That, you must admit, sounds great!

As we previously reported, Sony has already set a limited release date of October 14 for this movie, and now Deadline reports that The Ides of March will open the Venice Film Festival on August 31.

Lionsgate just released a new clip and poster for The Lincoln Lawyer.

In the gripping thriller The Lincoln Lawyer, Matthew McConaughey stars as Michael “Mick” Haller, a slick, charismatic Los Angeles criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln Continental sedan. Having spent most of his career defending petty, gutter-variety criminals, Mick unexpectedly lands the case of a lifetime: defending a rich Beverly Hills playboy (Ryan Phillippe) who is accused of attempted murder. However, what initially appears to be a straightforward case with a big money pay-off swiftly develops into a deadly match between two masters of manipulation and a crisis of conscience for Haller.

Marisa Tomei and Sarah Jessica Parker may Join the Indie Comedy Married and Cheating

Michael London’s Groundswell Prods. along with Lauren Versel of Lucky Monkey Pictures are circling Sarah Jessica Parker and Marisa Tomei to star in Married and Cheating, an indie comedy being written and directed by Raymond De Felitta.

The Sex and the City star, renowned for playing single relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw, would play half of one of three married couples who are struggling to find happiness in the film, set in New York and Paris.

Parker next plays in New Line’s New Year’s Eve and The Weinstein Company’s I Don’t Know How She Does It.

The Wrestler‘s Marisa Tomei is also in negotiations to appear in the picture. Tomei has The Lincoln Lawyer hitting theaters this week, and Crazy, Stupid Love with Steve Carell, later this year. And she is currently filming George Clooney‘s political drama The Ides of March.

George Clooney’s Ides Of March Gets a Release Date

George ClooneyFinally something official about the upcoming George Clooney‘s project, titled The Ides of March – Sony has set a limited release date of October 14 for this movie!

Yeah, you already know he’s in charge for directing the whole thing, but you also know he’s starring in the movie as well, together with some great names – Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood and Jeffrey Wright.

The Ides of March is based loosely on the 2004 Democratic primary campaign of Howard Dean, the play focuses on dirty campaign tricks in Des Moines, Iowa, just weeks before the state’s Democratic caucuses.

The film follows a young press spokesman Stephen Myers, played by Ryan Gosling who gets involved in backroom politics and is manipulated by veteran political operatives. Paul Giamatti is set to play the rival campaign manager, Marisa Tomei is a New York Times reporter while Evan Rachel Woodstars stars as an intern for Myers’ campaign.
