New ROCK OF AGES Photo
We have a new image from the upcoming Rock of Ages movie which is set to open on June 1st, 2013. This one features Russell Brand, Julianne Hough and Alec Baldwin.
You already had a chance to see them in the trailer for this rock musical so let’s not repeat our impressions this time.
First ROCK OF AGES Trailer and Poster
Here’s the first trailer and poster for Adam Shankman‘s upcoming Rock of Ages movie. I can tell you just one thing – it’s not what I was expecting to see. Not at all.
But if you ask me why – I have no idea. I have nothing against the music, the cast is pretty much ok, but something still feels strange. Take a look and find out what…
Alec Baldwin Will NOT Star in Rock of Ages
What a shame! Alec Baldwin will not star in the upcoming Rock of Ages musical, and I’m here to write about this project once again (unfortunately)!
Lucky Baldwin, he saved himself from playing Dennis Dupree, the owner of the Bourbon Room, where much of the action takes place.
Ok, maybe I’m just not a musical-fan, but I do admit that director Adam Shankman still has quite interesting cast on board…
So far the project stars Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, the arrogant and charming star at the top of his career. Julianne Hough stars as the leading female role, Sherrie “the girl who comes to Los Angeles looking for the dream.”
Mary J. Blige will play character named Justice, while Paul Giamatti was cast as the manager of Stacee Jax and his rock band, Diego Gonzalez Boneta will star as Drew Boley, a guitarist and singer described as the nicest aspiring rocker you’ll find in the Bourbon Room.
Malin Akerman Joins Rock of Ages
Malin Akerman is quite busy lady these days, indeed. We already wrote about her involvement in the upcoming Medallion project where she’s set to star next to Nicolas Cage, and today, we’re here to add her name to the upcoming Rock Of Ages musical!
As you know from our previous reports, this project comes from Adam Shankman and already has some great cast on board!
Rock Of Ages is set in the 1980s and filled with rock music from that decade (classic ’80s tunes by Styx, REO Speedwagon, Journey, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison and Whitesnake).
So far the project stars Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, the arrogant and charming star at the top of his career. Julianne Hough stars as the leading female role, Sherrie, character that Shankman described this way: “she’s the lead, she’s the girl who comes to Los Angeles looking for the dream.”
Mary J. Blige will play character named Justice, while Alec Boldwin is set to star as Dennis. Paul Giamatti was cast as the manager of Stacee Jax and his rock band, Diego Gonzalez Boneta will star as Drew Boley, a guitarist and singer described as the nicest aspiring rocker you’ll find in the Bourbon Room and Catherine Zeta-Jones is on board to play a villain.
Rock of Ages Producers Cast Bryan Cranston for the Mayor Role
If you haven’t been following Adam Shankman on Twitter you might have missed last weekend’s announcement that Bryan Cranston will play the Mayor of Los Angeles in the upcoming jukebox musical Rock of Ages.
Shankman wrote on Saturday, April 30:
So honored! Bryan Cranston is joining the cast of #rockofagesmovie! LA has a mayor!”
Catherine Zeta-Jones as Villain in Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages is getting bigger! We just learned that lovely Catherine Zeta-Jones is going to be the part of this project as well. Sounds good? Why not?
So we’re interested to see this Oscar winner actress next to previously reported Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough and Diego Gonzalez Boneta in the upcoming Adam Shankman‘s project that:
“…tells the story, replete with hair-band music, of a small-town girl who comes to Hollywood for the 1980s music scene and is nearly destroyed by it. Although she falls for a budding musician named Drew, she also catches the eye of Stacee Jaxx, an arrogant rocker at the height of his career, ends up as a stripper in a club run by Blige but also finds true love at the end.”
Russell Brand Joins Rock Of Ages
We’re happy to report that previous rumors are true, and that Russell Brand is finally on board for the upcoming Adam Shankman’s adaptation of the stage musical Rock of Ages. Movie has quite interesting cast that already includes Mary J. Blige, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Julianne Hough, Paul Giamatti and Diego Gonzalez Boneta. Check out the rest of our report for more details.
