McConaughey about ‘Magnum P.I.’ offer
Matthew McConaughey has confirmed that he is considering taking the lead role in the Magnum P.I. film.
Speaking at the British premiere of Fool’s Gold, the actor confirmed rumours that he had been offered the part of Thomas Magnum. “I’m having a look at it right now. I’m considering that,” he said.
McConaughey said the film wouldn’t be a comedy.
He explained: “As I understand it, it’s [set in the] modern day. It’s not a parody. It’s not going back in time, it’s a modern-day Magnum. I like that take.”
The original Magnum P.I. TV series ran from 1980 to 1988 and starred Tom Selleck as an ex-Navy Seal who works in Hawaii as a private investigator.
Vince Vaughn, George Clooney and Ben Affleck have previously been linked with the lead role.
Matthew McConaughey as Magnum?
Matthew McConaughey was offered the role of Thomas Magnum in Universal Pictures’ adaptation of Magnum P.I., based on the successful ’80s television show, played so memorably by Tom Selleck.
Matthew is currently reading the script from writer/director Rawson Thurber and he will reportedly decide soon if he wants to follow in Tom’s mustachioed footsteps.
Now the burning questions: Will he grow a mustache for the role?
And what about these chest?
