Orci and Kurtzman Not Returning To Write Transformers 3
Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (The Island, The Legend of Zorro, Mission: Impossible III), after writing the first two, will not be returning to the script duties for “Transformers 3.”
Orci made a post on the Don Murphy forum saying he and Kurtzman won’t be involved with the third film. That means that Ehren Kruger (Scream 3, The Ring, The Ring Two, The Brothers Grimm), who also worked on the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen script, will be going it alone on part three, laboring under the iron fist of director Michael Bay.
Transformers 3 confirmed for 2011
Michael Bay has confirmed on his website a summer 2011 release date for “Transformers 3.”
Bay claims they have a “great Transformers 3 story” and that he’s currently en route to Rhode Island with screenwriter Ehren Kruger (Transformers 2, Blood and Chocolate, The Brothers Grimm, Ring I, II) to chat up Hasbro and figure out which new robots will make their way into the third installment
Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.
Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.
P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.
Pain and Gain is right after shooting of Trans 3.

Bad Boys 3 in the Works
Columbia Pictures is currently working on “Bad Boys 3.” Peter Craig is already working on a screenplay and third installment in the “Bad Boys” franchise will be Craig’s first major Hollywood screenplay.
According to THR, the studio is hoping that director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will all return for the third film.
None of the four has signed a deal, but all parties have uttered their willingness to return if the people behind the project can come up with a story. However, with the popularity of Smith, Lawrence, Bay and Bruckheimer, it could be costly to get everyone on board.
“I Am Number Four” Plot Details
DreamWorks has acquired the screen rights to “I Am Number Four,” the first of a six-book science fiction series. Director Michael Bay (Transformers) is set to produce and possibly direct the novel adaptation.
The franchise is about a group of nine earthbound alien teens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a hostile species. While the high school-aged kids assimilate, the title character discovers that he is being hunted by the enemy that blew up his planet.
FilmDrunk now has a bit more information about the movie:
The protagonist is 15. The rival race of aliens are from the planet Mogadore. They destroyed Lorien in order to strip the planet of its natural resources because Mogadore was dying, and still is, and they followed the Loric to Earth to finish the job. The Loric develop their “Legacies” (special powers) around their fifteenth year. This first book is a kind of love story. At its core it’s a type of father/son alone in the world, always moving to stay alive story, a lá The Road.
James Fey (A Million Little Pieces) is attached as a writer. Steven Spielberg is also expected to be involved in a capacity similar to his behind-the-scenes work on Transformers.
Transformers 2 Reviews
Everything from the girls to the action in “Transformers 2” is designed for cheap thrills. Bay aims for every low-brow joke in the book. Racial stereotyping, bad sex jokes, and “hilarious” humping scenes are just a few of the gems he’s able to come up with. These cheap jokes actually went over well with the audience in my screening, but when a movie has three humping scenes and none of them involve an actual human doing the humping there’s something wrong with that…read more [Blogcritics]
This is all standard negative criticism for Bay movies, however. The question you’re all wondering has yet to be fully addressed: Are the action scenes good? My answer is that yeah, they’re pretty sweet. Bay manages to drop the pretense that he was trying to make a film with plot, and just let giant robots fight near or on pyramids. A special note should be made of their IMAX cinematography. The scale of the Transformers and the picture quality really do add a lot of enjoyment to some scenes, notably the ones where Devastator is involved. The acting even manages to improve a bit from bad comic acting to legitimate moments of care and concern for the characters. There’s not much else to say about this; the action is cool, but trying to describe why it’s cool is kind of a futile pursuit… read more [ScreenJunkies]
The film should really be called “Transformers: Bigger, Longer, Unintelligent.”
In case you missed the first movie and since both films are nearly the same in execution that isn’t really necessary the good robots, called Autobots led by Optimus Prime (voice of Peter Cullen), fight the bad robots, called Decepticons led by Megatron (voice of Hugo Weaving). A human named Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) gets thrown into the battle as the unlikely savior accompanied by a sexy love interest, Mikaela (Megan Fox). Sam’s parents, Ron (Kevin Dunn) and Judy (Julie White), provide comic relief as does John Turturro as Agent Simmons…read more [MetroWest]

Warning: possible spoilers follow:
When the story begins, the Autobots and the military have been waging a secret war against the Decpticons. As more of the giant robots continue to resurface, though, it becomes apparent the Transformers have been part of Earth’s history for longer than they’d led mankind to believe. One group of bureaucrats even womders if the Decepticons are only appearing because of the Autobot presence. Desperate not to leave Earth undefended, Optimus Prime turns to Sam and asks him to become a human advocate, someone who will convince mankind that the Autobots should be allowed to saty. Sam refuses to believe he can help, though, wanting to go to college and live a normal life – as normal as possible with the strange thoughts and visions that have haunted him since being exposed to the All Spark’s primal energies two years earlier. Alas, Sam’s refusal will have harsh consequences for himself, the Autobots and possibly the entire world. The Decepticons fallen leader, Megatron has been resurrected and brings with him an ancient evil from the Transformers own history.
“All great sequels have an incredibly frightening bad guy,” says Kurtzman, amending their earlier list of traits, “who challenges your hero in a way that is unique,” They found such a character in the comic-book Transformers mythology, a primordial creature known only as The Fallen. “He was one of the first Transformers. He was Lucifer. He was the fallen angel. And it just felt like a great place to come from.”
“Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” opens to theaters on June 26th.
