Anchor Bay to Release Director’s Cut of THE DIVIDE

Anchor Bay Films has announced today that on Friday, January 13th, 2012, they will be releasing theatrically the full, unrated directors cut of Xavier Gens’ The Divide in theatres. The version will contain additional footage not seen during its previous screenings at SXSW and Fantasia 2011. Initial markets on January 13th will include New York, Los Angeles, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Denver with additional markets to be announced.

Today we have a 90-second opening scene from director Xavier Gens’ (Hitman, Frontier) new thiriller The Divide (formerly The Fallout), which is making its debut in Austin during SXSW.

When a mysterious cataclysmic bomb devastates New York, eight strangers take refuge in the basement of their apartment building. The residents soon succumb to cabin fever as fear of sickness, dwindling supplies, and ruthless outside invaders, plays on their mind. However Eva, the only young woman, has her own worries as the men begin to regress into dangerous packs. She quickly learns to be ruthless if she wants to survive, aware that her sanctuary is becoming her hell. Will her survival ultimately be at the expense of her humanity?

Synopsis:

When a cataclysmic explosion devastates New York, eight strangers take refuge in the basement of their apartment building, a converted fallout shelter designed by their paranoid superintendent Mickey. With just three connecting rooms it’s barely big enough, but with stockpiles of food and water, the group are at least safe from the horrors outside, and they settle in and attempt to fathom the catastrophe that has ended the lives of so many of their loved ones.
