Cannes 2011: Michael by Markus Schleinzer
Another title that will compete at the 64th Cannes Film Festival is Michael, an upcoming Austrian drama film directed by Markus Schleinzer.
Just in case you’re not familiar with Schleinzer’s work, don’t worry, because this movie is the first feature he’s directed, and it is a first-time competitor for the Palme.
Reportedly based on the real-life story of a 10-year-old Austrian girl who was kidnapped and held prisoner for eight years by a man she called “Master”, this movie describes the last five months of 10-year-old Wolfgang and 35-year-old Michael’s involuntary life together. Unfortunately, we currently know too little about the film, and as you see just these two photos from the movie as well.
Public Enemies Trailer!
Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for their gangster action-thriller, “Public Enemies.”
The movie revolves around Dillinger (Johnny Depp), a famous gangster who the federal government attempts to take down in the 1930s. Channing Tatum will play outlaw Pretty Boy Floyd, Giovanni Ribisi will play Alvin Karpis, Stephen Dorff will play Homer Van Meter, and Jason Clarke will play John “Red” Hamilton. That quartet comprised a Dillinger gang that knocked off banks all over the Midwest during the Depression.
Public Enemies First Poster
The first poster for Michael Mann‘s Public Enemies is online.
The film is based on Brian Burrough’s book “Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34″ set during the great crime wave of 1933-34, when the government’s attempts to stop Depression-era criminal legends such as John Dillilnger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd transformed J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI into the country’s first federal police force.
