Ben Affleck Signs Onto John Wells’ The Company Men
John Wells will write, direct and produce the screenplay about a man who is laid off and must cope with the financial and personal consequences. Ben Affleck is in negotiations to star in the film according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project would mark the feature directorial debut for Wells, the award-winning writer-producer of episodes of television series ER and The West Wing.
Affleck’s own career is far from in the doldrums since his directing debut on the child kidnapping drama Gone Baby Gone. He is also starring as an ambulance-chasing lawyer in Extract, the new film from Mike Judge, the director of cult comedy Office Space and the King of the Hill TV show.
Ben Affleck Joins Cast Of Mike Judge’s “Extract”
Ben Affleck has just signed on to the new Mike Judge comedy “Extract“.
He joins a cast that includes Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis and Kristen Wiig. Clifton Collin Jr. has also been added to the movie.
The story centers on a flower extract factory owner (Jason Bateman) who’s dealing with workplace problems and a streak of bad luck, including his wife’s affair with a gigolo. Affleck will play an ambulance-chasing lawyer, while Collins Jr. has been cast as a factory worker who loses a body part in a freak accident and is now due for a huge settlement. Continue Reading…
Mike Judge and Jason Bateman making ‘Extract’
Mike Judge will direct the comedy Extract with Jason Bateman in the lead role. The film, which Judge also wrote, will focus on a flower extract plant owner who sees his life and company change around him after a string of bad luck. Extract is set up at Miramax. Judge has previously directed the workplace comedy Office Space and the little-seen Idiocracy. He is also the creator of Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill. Bateman recently appeared in Juno and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He will next be seen in Will Smith‘s Hancock and in the Kevin MacDonald-helmed political drama State of Play.
