Max Payne Reviews

[ScreenRant] Mark Wahlberg plays Max Payne, a cop who’s wife and child were murdered and who subsequently becomes an obsessed outcast in the police department. Eventually he teams up with Mona Sax (played by Mila Kunis) in a quest to track down the killer.

The movie opens with what we’ve seen in the trailer: Max floating underwater, apparently unconscious. We are then kicked back to “One Week Earlier,” indicated in the current fad of making on-screen text look like it’s part of the actual scene. We soon meet Max, a somber and unsociable guy who has been downgraded to the Cold Case department at the local police precinct…full story

[Colider] Moore treats “Payne” as another polished cinematographic playing field, imagining a world where the snow never stops falling (a noticeable continuity nightmare), the locations are ripe with noirish lighting, and the streets are guarded by psychological demons of the night. Moore demonstrates outstanding control over his environments, but holds no fundamental storytelling instincts, spending all of his time perfecting the shots while an entire film leisurely strolls past him with almost nothing to do but stand around and look confused. New poster for the upcoming big screen adaptation of the popular “Max Payne” video game have appeared online.

“Max Payne” tells the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max (Mark Wahlberg) is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.

Three new promo photos from the upcoming “Max Payne” have been released.

“Max Payne” tells the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max (Mark Wahlberg) is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.

John Moore, whose most recent projects include the war actioner “Behind Enemy Lines“, the horror remake “The Omen“, and the airborne adventure “Flight of the Phoenix“, is directing from a script by Beau Thorne. The movie star Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and Chris O’Donnell. It also has a pretty solid supporting cast that includes Ludacris, Donal Logue and Beau Bridges.

“Max Payne” - TV Spot

Mark Wahlberg’s “Max Payne” is a DEA agent whose family was slain as part of a conspiracy.

In order to avenge their deaths, he must come together with a deadly assassin (Mila Kunis) who is also out to avenge the death of a family member, her sister. Chris O’Donnell will play an executive for one of the big corporations that are allegedly involved in the conspiracy.

“Max Payne” is scheduled to hit theaters on October 17, 2008.
