Biggest Movie Mistakes of 2009
It’s been a bumper year for Hollywood, with box office takings totalling over $10 billion, but there is one big total they might not be so proud of – fans have spotted over 900 mistakes in this year’s releases, submitting them to website moviemistakes.com. A few of the mistakes:
New Moon mistakes: After Bella awakes from the first nightmare, we see her Romeo and Juliet book on the pillow beside her. When Charlie brings in her presents the book is gone, but then reappears on the pillow between shots.
In the very last scene, right before the ultimatum, if you look into the tail lights on Edward’s car you can see various members of the crew reflected. [read more]
Terminator Salvation mistakes: The four-door Jeep Wrangler used in the movie wasn’t made until 2007, three years after the date of Judgment Day as established in Terminator 3 (Saturday 24th July 2004).
When Barnes and Marcus Wright are helping John Connor back to the chopper and when Barnes gets in the helicopter, he’s revealed to be a stand in. It’s in plain sight, at the right side of the screen.
“Twilight: Breaking Dawn” To Be Split Into Two Movies?
“New Moon” has made so far $481 million worldwide.
The third installment, “Eclipse,” nearly done is set to hit theaters next summer, on June 30th, 2010.
There’s no release date been set for “Breaking Dawn” as of yet but there’s a rumor that studio Summit Entertainment is considering splitting the fourth and last installment of the franchise into two movies.
This means reopening negotiations and securing approval from the author, Stephanie Meyer. It also means making new deals with a principal cast, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, that is only locked up for four films.
New Moon Box Office Results Setting Records!
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” has shattered all competition and earned a whopping $140.7 million from 4024 theaters over the weekend, easily good enough for the #1 spot at the box office.
Richie Fay, head of distribution for Summit said:
“Obviously, with the success of ‘Twilight’ itself, sequels being what they are will generate X-number of dollars more, particularly if it’s a satisfying sequel”
“New Moon” placed third on the all-time domestic chart behind last year’s $158.4 million opening weekend for the Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight” and 2007’s $151.1 million haul for “Spider-Man 3.”
On Friday, “New Moon” set an all-time domestic high for opening day with $72.7 million, topping the previous record of $67.2 million by last year’s “The Dark Knight.
The film also performed well internationally, grabbing another $118.1 million, for a total worldwide debut of $258.8 million.
New Moon Review
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” is the second movie based on the series of four vampire-based fantasy and romance books by author Stephenie Meyer. The New Moon movie continues the story of the first Twilight movie about the ill-fated romance between mortal Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, and vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson.
New Moon goes through great pains to present itself as a descendent of Romeo And Juliet, except without all that icky tragedy in the end. There are warring clans—in this case, werewolves and vampires—a rival suitor, tragic miscommunication, and at the center of it all, two self-absorbed teenage lovers. Throw in a revenge subplot and an ancient, power-hungry clan of evil Italian vampires, and it all sounds potentially thrilling. But in spite of its wealth of conflict, New Moon suffers from a dearth of accompanying tension and excitement, thanks to the increasingly tedious relationship at its center…read more [AVClub]
The success of the second film adaptation of author Stephenie Meyer’s wildly popular supernatural romance series, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” has less to do with vampires and werewolves than with zombies.
You know the kind I mean. Not the flesh-eating ones but the ones who have been counting down the hours and minutes to the release of the film. The slack-jawed legions who will stagger into theaters this weekend, clutching their preordered tickets in their outstretched hands, regardless of what they hear about the movie. I could say, for instance, that the movie is little more than your standard love triangle between a handsome, if slightly priggish bloodsucker, a hotblooded lycanthrope and the mortal girl who is caught between them. And that would be true, if a less than accurate assessment of the film’s many visceral pleasures. And it would do nothing to dissuade a diehard fan from going to the movie…read more [The Washington Post]
