Paul Giamatti

An acclaimed character actor, Paul Giamatti has joined the cast of Carlo Carlei‘s upcoming Romeo and Juliet period adaptation about the two most famous star-crossed lovers.

The Ides of March star will be playing Friar Lawrence in the film, which has been penned by Downton Abbey and Gosford Park scribe Julian Fellowes, so it will probably feature British accents.

Cosmopolis

Ok, let’s get one thing straight right here at the beginning of this report.

We have a new poster for David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis and I don’t care if this is a fan-made poster or the official one – I still think it looks way better than that shitty poster with Robert Pattinson inside of a car or something like that. Ok?

George Clooney and Ryan Gosling - The Ides of March

The Ides of March is coming, and I’m sure we’re all happy because of that. After all, it’s always nice to watch a political drama (we hope a good one), especially when you know that George Clooney is in it, and by the way – behind the camera as well. Am I right or…right?

We all know this movie will hit the theaters on October 7th, which is less than a month, so it’s quite logical that we have 4 new clips for the whole thing.

The official synopsis part is not so interesting. It goes like this: “During the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, an up-and-coming campaign press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate’s shot at the presidency.”

George Clooney and Ryan Gosling in The Ides of March

The Ides of March is one of those projects that we already wrote about, and something that definitely deserves our full attention.

Especially now, when we finally learned that George Clooney‘s upcoming movie will have an honor to open the 2011 Venice Film Festival on August 31. That, you must admit, sounds great!

As we previously reported, Sony has already set a limited release date of October 14 for this movie, and now Deadline reports that The Ides of March will open the Venice Film Festival on August 31.

Alec Baldwin Will NOT Star in Rock of Ages

By Fiona | May 11, 2011 | Movie News (0) Comment

Alec BaldwinWhat a shame! Alec Baldwin will not star in the upcoming Rock of Ages musical, and I’m here to write about this project once again (unfortunately)!

Lucky Baldwin, he saved himself from playing Dennis Dupree, the owner of the Bourbon Room, where much of the action takes place.

Ok, maybe I’m just not a musical-fan, but I do admit that director Adam Shankman still has quite interesting cast on board…

So far the project stars Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, the arrogant and charming star at the top of his career. Julianne Hough stars as the leading female role, Sherrie “the girl who comes to Los Angeles looking for the dream.”

Mary J. Blige will play character named Justice, while Paul Giamatti was cast as the manager of Stacee Jax and his rock band, Diego Gonzalez Boneta will star as Drew Boley, a guitarist and singer described as the nicest aspiring rocker you’ll find in the Bourbon Room.

Malin Akerman Joins Rock of Ages

By Fiona | May 4, 2011 | Movie News (0) Comment

Malin AkermanMalin Akerman is quite busy lady these days, indeed. We already wrote about her involvement in the upcoming Medallion project where she’s set to star next to Nicolas Cage, and today, we’re here to add her name to the upcoming Rock Of Ages musical!

As you know from our previous reports, this project comes from Adam Shankman and already has some great cast on board!

Rock Of Ages is set in the 1980s and filled with rock music from that decade (classic ’80s tunes by Styx, REO Speedwagon, Journey, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison and Whitesnake).

So far the project stars Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, the arrogant and charming star at the top of his career. Julianne Hough stars as the leading female role, Sherrie, character that Shankman described this way: “she’s the lead, she’s the girl who comes to Los Angeles looking for the dream.”

Mary J. Blige will play character named Justice, while Alec Boldwin is set to star as Dennis. Paul Giamatti was cast as the manager of Stacee Jax and his rock band, Diego Gonzalez Boneta will star as Drew Boley, a guitarist and singer described as the nicest aspiring rocker you’ll find in the Bourbon Room and Catherine Zeta-Jones is on board to play a villain.
