Tom McCarthy, acclaimed writer/ director of The Visitor and The Station Agent, once again explores the depths and nuances of human relationships in his new film about the allegiances and bonds between unlikely characters. Disheartened attorney Mike Flaherty (Paul Giamatti), who moonlights as a high school wrestling coach, stumbles across a star athlete through some questionable business dealings while trying to support his family. Paul Giamatti in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis – Confirmed
It’s confirmed – Paul Giamatti will star in the upcoming David Cronenberg‘s adaptation of Don DeLillo’s book Cosmopolis.
We already had a little chat about this thriller that follows a multimillionaire on a 24-hour odyssey across Manhattan, so, by now you know that it has an interesting casting team on board.
Paul Giamatti and Marion Cotillard were the two major actors set to appear with the Twilight star Robert Pattinson when he stepped into the starring role, formerly held by Colin Farrell.
Then we learned that Cotillard is pregnant, so you already know she’s no longer attached to the project.
Then, it had been reported Keira Knightley was going to be playing Robert Pattinson’s love interest in the film, but apparently she is still in negotiations and nothing has been confirmed yet.
Golden Globe 2011 Winners
The Social Network won top honors Sunday at the Golden Globes with four prizes, together with best drama and director, solidifying its position as an Academy Awards favorite.
Winning the dramatic lead-acting prizes were Colin Firth for the monarchy saga The King’s Speech and Natalie Portman for the psychosexual thriller Black Swan.
Lead-acting honors for the Globes’ musical or comedy categories went to Annette Bening for the lesbian-family story The Kids Are All Right and Paul Giamatti for the cynic tale Barney’s Version.
The boxing drama The Fighter got both supporting acting Globes, for Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.
I’m personally loath to acknowledge the kind of wonderful response this film has received for fear of becoming addicted to it, so suffice it to say, it’s been really nice,”
said David Fincher, whose film also won the Globes for screenplay for Aaron Sorkin and musical score for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

As you see, Pattinson is quite lucky guy, since he’ll have a chance to portray “…Eric Packer, a 28-year-old multi-billionaire asset manager who makes an odyssey across midtown Manhattan in order to get a haircut.
The stretch limo which adorns the cover of the book is richly described as highly technical and very luxurious, filled with television screens and computer monitors, bulletproofed and floored with Carrara marble.
