USA Today has debuted the first three official photos from Universal Pictures’ “Fast and Furious 4“.

The fourth installment of the street-racing saga will enjoy a rarity among franchises: the return of original stars. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker reprise their roles as outlaw and cop.

Even Justin Lin, who directed 2006’s Tokyo Drift“, has been surprised by the franchise’s reach.

Lin says:

“I was in Barcelona, and a kid from Spain comes up and just says “Fast and Furious”. It’s amazing how many kids know it.”

Vin Diesel:

“We were doing a movie about illegal racing before most people even knew how popular it was.” How many franchises are that based on the real world?”

But it’s not all current events, Walker says. “Who doesn’t like fast cars and hot women?”

ninjasimage.jpgRicky Yune, who went toe-to-toe with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in The Fast and The Furious, as well as battling 007 in Die Another Day, and who recently left the upcoming Street Fighter movie, has signed on to star as the antagonist in Ninja Assassin, the Wachowskis-produced action film James McTeigue is directing, says The Hollywood Reporter. Also boarding the production are Naomie Harris as the female lead and Ben Miles.

Yune has recently spoken about the role and gives a brief hint at how this ass kicking will ensue…

“Not to give too much away, (but) my character stays within what he was brought up with, and they go up against each other,” Yune said. “I’m not a heavy. The characters are ninjas, they are assassins, and there’s this mix of morality the Wachowskis are exploring.” )

The martial arts extravaganza stars Korean actor-singer Rain, who also appears in the siblings’ Speed Racer, as a man brought up in an orphanage functioning as a ninja farm. The man turns his back on his tradition to make his way in the modern world, which brings him into conflict with a ninja (Yune) from the clan.

A release date still hasn’t been set. The movie was written by Matthew Sand and
J. Michael Straczynski. The Wachowskis and James McTeigue previously worked to gether on McTeigue’s directorial debut, V for Vendetta. Read the rest of this entry

The Fast and the Furious 4 & Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel sat down with MTV News to talk about the upcoming forth installment of “The Fast and the Furious”, mentioning the reasons for his return to the franchise.

“I think doing the cameo in ‘Tokyo Drift’ confirmed a lot of things for me,” said Diesel. “It confirmed that if you create a role that the world kind of identifies with, or the world adopts, sometimes you have that responsibility to revisit that role. I’m a little bit slower than the average actor that just jumps into the sequel, but I think the time has come to revisit Dom Toretto.”
