Sarah Michelle Gellar in Veronika Decides to Die

Check out the trailer for new Sarah Michelle Gellar movie. ”Veronika Decides to Die” based on the bestselling 1998 novel of the same name by Paulo Coelho is directed by Emily Young from the script by Larry Gross.

The story centers on Veronika (Sarah Michelle Gellar), a woman in her mid twenties who appears to have everything: good looks, good job and a great life ahead of her. Yet she decides to end her own life. She is unsuccessful and awakens in a mental hospital where she learns that she has five days to live. We learn that the reason that she attempted suicide was that she felt so constrained by the rules and expectations of ‘normal’ society that she had concluded that she had experienced all that life had to offer.

However in the hospital she meets people who are only ‘insane’ because they don’t always follow society’s rules. With little left to lose, Veronika embarks on a journey on which she frees herself to experience relationships and emotions and ultimately discovers what it means to live.

Paulo Coelho’s ‘The Alchemist’ to be filmed by Laurence Fishburne and Harvey Weinstein

‘The Alchemist’, the best-selling book by Paulo Coelho will be turned into a film.

Laurence Fishburne will direct, write and star in the $60 million production, which is being made by Harvey Weinstein.

‘The Alchemist’ book has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and translated into 67 languages. Such is its enduring appeal, it is currently at number six on The New York Times bestseller list, 20 years after its first publication.

It tells the story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who travels across the Egyptian desert in search of treasure, leading to an encounter with an alchemist who teaches him the meaning of life.
