Finally, here’s the first official announcement for the 23rd James Bond movie.

James Bond - 007

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions and MGM have today announced that Oscar nominated Peter Morgan (”Frost/Nixon,” “The Other Boleyn Girl,” “The Last King of Scotland,” “The Queen“) will team up with Neal Purvis and Robert Wade – co-writers of “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace” – to write the script for Bond 23.

“Peter, Neal and Robert are extraordinarily talented and we’re looking forward to working with the three of them,” commented Wilson and Broccoli.

Daniel Craig is already set to reprise his role as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 in the film, and Wilson and Broccoli are producing.

Both “Quantum of Solace” and “Casino Royale” were co-productions between MGM and Sony, with the latter distributing. The new film will be the first to return as a full MGM release. The first 20 pictures in the franchise were distributed by MGM.

A date for the start of production is yet to be confirmed.
A big and important question is – who will direct James Bond 23?

The film will be released in UK theaters on March 27th, 2009. No word yet if it’ll be released here in the U.S. but I wouldn’t be surprised if ends up going straight-to-DVD knowing that most Americans in general don’t really like football (soccer).

“Frost/Nixon” Premiered At London Film Festival

Posted by Fiona 16 October, 2008 (0) Comment

London Film Festival opening movie Ron Howard’s “Frost/Nixon” premiered last night in London’s Leicester Square.

Among those attending the red carpet event – Michael Sheen, Kevin Bacon, Frank Langella, Toby Jones, Matthew Macfadyen, Oliver Platt, Peter Morgan – was David Frost himself, who said he was “delighted” by the film.

“I am delighted. It really is good, it really is powerful,” Frost said.

The movie depicts the tense meetings between David Frost and disgraced US president Richard Nixon in 1977 and series of interviews culminating in Nixon’s seeming admission of guilt over the Watergate scandal.

Frank Langella, who plays the former commander-in-chief, said Nixon continued to figure in his thoughts long after the cameras were turned off.

“I do not think I will ever say goodbye to him. I think about him every day,” he said last night. “It is not a political film but a human film.”

“David Frost is not a character, he is more of a way of life, so I started to get worried when I found it more enjoyable being him than I did being me. So now I’m starting to kind of de-Frost, come out of character and let it go,” Michael Sheen said.

The film has already received attention as a potential award winner. Director Ron Howard said:

“It is a little early for me to talk about. A movie like this – it needs that kind of support and acknowledgement.”

London Film Festival runs Oct. 15-30.

Posted by Fiona 18 September, 2008 (0) Comment

Poster for the upcoming Ron Howard-directed “Frost/Nixon” film is unveiled.

The film is based on the popular Broadway production, by the same name, and focuses on interview Nixon gave, post-resignation, to English journalist David Frost. Nixon spoke about the Watergate scandal during the sessions, which aired in 1977.

Oscar-winning director Ron Howard brings to the screen writer Peter Morgan’s (”The Queen,” “The Last King of Scotland”) electrifying battle between Richard Nixon, the disgraced president with a legacy to save, and David Frost, a jet-setting television personality with a name to make, in the untold story of the historic encounter that changed both: “Frost/Nixon.” Reprising their roles from Morgan’s stageplay are Frank Langella, who won a Tony for his portrayal of Nixon, and Michael Sheen, who fully inhabited the part of Frost onstage in London and New York.
