DUNE Movie Has A New Writer
Despite a director change from Peter Berg to Pierre Morel (Taken, From Paris with Love) earlier this year, Universal Pictures’ planned remake of “Dune” is moving forward.
Now comes word that Morel has brought on newcomer Chase Palmer (Number Thirteen, Wild Wild East, The Dallas Buyer’s Club) to write the script that will stick very close to the source material, which is Frank Herbert’s Classic 1965 sci-fi novel. David Lynch turned the first novel into a feature for Universal in 1984.

Lionsgate just released the second official movie trailer for the John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers action flick “From Paris With Love.”
The film follows an intelligence operative (Rhys Meyers) in the office of the U.S. ambassador in France who’s partnered with a high-ranking U.S. agent (Travolta), who’s been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack.
“From Paris with Love” is directed by Pierre Morel, the man behind “District B13″ and Liam Neeson’s “Taken” thriller.
Pierre Morel Will Direct “Dune” Remake
French filmmaker Pierre Morel, who directed the hit actioner “Taken” and the upcoming “From Paris With Love,” has signed on to helm new Paramount Pictures’ version of “Dune“, the sci-fi classic novel by Frank Herbert.
Morel is chosen to replace Peter Berg, who decided to drop off the project in October 2009 because he has committed to Universal Pictures’ upcoming action movie “Battleship“.
