Nimrod Antal will direct the forthcoming “Predators” movie for producer Robert Rodriguez through his Troublemaker Studios.

Rodriguez had pencilled in a fairly strong shortlist of directors that included Neil Marshall (The Descent), but Nimrod Antal (Vacancy, Armored) ultimately won out.

Rodriguez’s Predators Movie Gets a Writer

It seems that Robert Rodriguez has found his new writer. According to Bloody-Disgusting, Alex Litvak (writer of Medieval) has been tapped to write “Predators.” It has been described as “The Dirty Dozen in the age of castles, plagues and serfs”, and McG was rumoured to be interested in directing.

Fox has already set a July 7, 2010 release date for the film and BD  has learned it will be a sequel, but they are unclear as to whether it is a sequel to the original Arnold Schwarzenegger film or the subsequent Danny Glover follow-up.

Robert Rodriguez to Direct Predators

According to IESB, Robert Rodriguez is resurrecting the Predator movies for 20th Century Fox.

Rodriguez spoke about Predators, and several of other upcoming films at a press conference he gave at his Troublemaker Studios:

“I’m going to be able to shoot my upcoming “Machete here, a sci-fi action film called “Nervewrackers,” a re-boot of the Predator series called “Predators,” and a couple of smaller movies called “Sin City 2” and “The Jetsons.”
