First “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra” Poster

Film1.nl took a picture at the Cinema EXPO in Amsterdam today of a poster for the new G.I. Joe movie. The poster, featuring Channing Tatum as Duke, reveals that the full title for the movie is G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.
Hasbro has bought the domain name GIJoeRiseofCobra.com, so it is a pretty good indication that it will be the title.
The story revolves around a European-based military unit known as Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity (G.I.J.O.E.), which is a hi-tech, international force of special operatives that takes on an evil organization led by a notorious arms dealer.
The Stephen Sommers-directed film, co-starring Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo and Christopher Eccleston has started shooting in February, and is currently scheduled to hit theaters on August 7th, 2009. G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes in Action

More photos have hit the web from the Prague, Czech Republic set G.I. Joe.
Ray Park storms into action as mute ninja Snake Eyes. Ripcord (Marlon Waynes) and Scarlett (Rachel Nichols) were seen watching from the sidelines in full costume, so they’re probably involved in the sequence some how.
New ‘GI Joe’ Details
We recently got to see lots of promotional photos for the upcoming “G.I. Joe” film and today we have a few bits of information directly from the script. The basic premise revolves around a team led by Duke (Channing Tatum) whose mission is to fight for freedom against arch nemesis Cobra Commander and his Cobra Force. Here are several things that you can expect in the movie:
- Accelerator suits: Suits that allow the GI Joe squad to run faster, jump super-high, smash through walls, and shrug off bullets.
- Nano-bomb: A bomb that Cobra Commander wants to launch. When activated, a swarm of nanites are released that eat all of the buildings and machinery, without harming any of the people.
- Neo-Vipers: Super-soldiers enhanced by nanotech, so they can’t feel pain or remorse. A mad scientist, known only as the Doctor, creates these soldiers for Destro, who’s horribly disfigured after a fight with Duke. Destro wears a mask made out of nanotechnology, which allows the Doctor, aka Commander, to control his mind.
- Invisibility Armor: Scarlett (Rachel Nichols) wears an invisibility armor, wearing it on missions and for fun. Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) has the hots for Scarlett, who says she’ll date him if he can shoot her on an obstacle course. He fails to do so.
- Backstory: A backstory involves a romance between Duke (Tatum) and the evil Baroness (Sienna Miller). Continue Reading…
