Ray Winstone Replaces Robert De Niro In “Edge of Darkness”

Ray WinstoneEdge of Darkness” adds Ray Winstone to the cast as the replacement for Robert De Niro.
Mel Gibson, Danny Huston, Shawn Roberts and Bojana Novakovic will also star in the movie.

Filming began on August 18, in Massachusetts on Aug. 18. but De Niro walked out two days later citing creative differences.

Winstone will play Darius Jedburgh, a CIA operativeis who cleans up evidence in a murder of a detective’s (Mel Gibson) daughter. The detective wants answers as to why his daughter was killed.

He uncovers not only her secret life, but a corporate cover-up and government collusion that attracts an agent tasked with cleaning up the evidence.

 

The film’s based on the 1985 BBC miniseries “Edge of Darkness.”
Martin Campbell is directing “Edge of Darkness” movie from a script by William Monahan.

Robert De NiroRobert De Niro will join Mel Gibson in the cast of “Edge Of Darkness.”

“Edge Of Darkness” centres on Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson), an upstanding homicide detective who uncovers government and corporate cover-ups when his daughter is murdered.

De Niro will play Darius Jedburgh, a CIA operative dispatched to remove the evidence.

Martin Campbell, who directed the original 1985 BBC miniseries on which the film is based, will also direct the remake.

Robert De Niro Reveals Future Film Plans

Robert De NiroRobert De Niro has revealed that he is planning two sequels for ”The Good Shepherd,” his CIA drama.The original, which starred Matt Damon as a spy in the Cold War, grossed under $100 million in 2006.

Although the first was not a box office success, De Niro confirmed he is developing ideas for a second and third film.

He would like to make two sequels to CIA Cold War drama ”The Good Shepherd,” one bringing the action forward from 1961 to 1989, the other following its hero, Edward Wilson (Matt Damon), up to the present day.

What Just Happened?”, Barry Levinson’s tale of an embattled Hollywood producer, will be the Cannes Film Festival‘s closing night attraction.

The movie, written by Art Linson and based on his memoir about his experiences as a producer, stars Robert De Niro as Ben, whose professional and personal life comes undone during one turbulent week.

In What Just Happened?, De Niro plays a quality producer in crisis mode, handling temperamental co-workers (including Bruce Willis as himself) and demanding higher-ups (including Catherine Keener as a studio boss) while struggling to make sense of his personal life. Robin Wright Penn plays his most recent ex-wife, Sean Penn plays the star of a movie-within-the-movie.
