Hounddog Posters, Trailer and Pics

Posted by Allan Ford 16 September, 2008 (0) Comment

A new posters, trailer and photos for the highly anticipated and controversial independent film “Hounddog” are now online.

Written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier, the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year.

Lewellen (Dakota Fanning) lives with her stern religious zealot grandmother, Grammie (Piper Laurie), but spends most of her time down the hill with her much-adored Daddy (David Morse) in his falling down shack. Daddy is wild and rough and frequently brings home a beautiful but troubled woman (Robin Wright Penn) who has a mysterious history with him and comes and goes when his drink and abuse become too much for her. But while she’s around, Lewellen’s longing heart reaches for her love.

Lewellen is deeply talented and finds comfort and safety, as well as a place to put her hurt and rage, in the music of Elvis Presley. When Elvis Presley comes to town for a concert, Lewellen is desperate to go but has no money for a ticket. Her best friend, Buddy, trying to get her a ticket, arranges for her to do her Elvis impersonation for a local teenager in exchange for tickets to the concert. During the impersonation, the teenager attacks Lewellen and steals her innocence. Read the rest of this entry

At fifty, Pippa Lee positively glows with female serenity, the devoted wife of a brilliant publisher thirty years her senior, proud mother of successful twins and a lovely and adored friend and neighbor.

But, when her husband spontaneously decides that they should leave New York for a retirement home as a “pre-emptive strike against decrepitude,” and has an affair with someone even younger than she is, Pippa finds her beatific persona unraveling in alarming ways.

The truth is, the gracious woman of the present day has seen more than her fair share of the wild side. She has finally found love and security in a family of her own. And now, that cozy world, too, is in danger.

‘What Just Happened?’ - 2 Clips - Cannes 2008

Posted by Fiona 23 May, 2008 (0) Comment

What Just Happened?”, Barry Levinson’s tale of an embattled Hollywood producer, will be the
Cannes Film Festival’s closing night attraction.

Robert De Niro
The movie, written by Art Linson and based on his memoir about his experiences as a producer, stars Robert De Niro as Ben, whose professional and personal life comes undone during one turbulent week.

In What Just Happened?, De Niro plays a quality producer in crisis mode, handling temperamental co-workers (including Bruce Willis as himself) and demanding higher-ups (including Catherine Keener as a studio boss) while struggling to make sense of his personal life. Robin Wright Penn plays his most recent ex-wife, Sean Penn plays the star of a movie-within-the-movie.

The idea that the movie is too “inside” amuses Levinson.

The film generated strong buzz coming in to January’s Sundance Film Festival but the movie received a mixed critical response and failed to catch fire with distributors, and its rights remain available.

“What I’ve heard is that some studio people view it as a personal attack: You can make fun of writers, directors, actors, but not them.” Levinson said.
