New Films International Acquires Worldwide Rights to Burning Palms

Burning Palms New Films International acquires worldwide rights to Christopher B. Landon‘s Burning Palms starring an ensemble cast including Zoe Saldana, Dylan McDermott, Paz Vega and Rosamund Pike. Burning Palmsis a dark comedy that interlaces five stories set in different Los Angeles neighborhoods, where no taboo is left unexplored as each character careens toward a dark and often comic fate. Nesim Hason, President of New Films International and New Films Cinema states,

“We are excited to be distributing BURNING PALMS Worldwide and we are planning the US theatrical release for early 2011.”

Here are the trailer and two posters for puppets/stop-motion animation film Jackboots on Whitehall which featuring the voices of Ewan McGregor, Rosamund Pike, Timothy Spall and Dominic West.

Set in World War II, the film is a satirical version of the war that sees the Scottish defeat the Germans and save England from invasion – even “with their tiny plastic hands”.

Kevin Bacon’s New X-Men: First Class Role

Sebastian Shaw, character from X-Men First ClassKevin Bacon is now officially the “villain” member of the X-Men: First Class cast, only this time there we have a new rumor!

Previously mentioned role of Mister Sinister is no longer in the game and looks that Bacon will play Sebastian Shaw in the upcoming Matthew Vaughn’s movie.

“Sebastian Shaw possesses the ability possesses the ability to absorb kinetic energy and transform it into raw strength. He is the leader of the New York branch of the Hellfire Club, an exclusive secret society bent on world domination, although to the public, he is a legitimate businessman and ordinary human.

Shaw absorbs the energy of any blow he is struck by, not just punches, but bullets, and to a less successful degree, concussive energy beams, notably Cyclops’ optic blasts.

He is capable of absorbing the cutting, piercing and thrusting energy from a blade which makes it exceedingly difficult to cut or stab him with sharp edged weapons.

Alice Eve as Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class

Alice EveAlice Eve, the British actress is in negotiations to portray Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn – directed X-Men: First Class.

There was a rumor, earlier this month, that Rosamund Pike was in talks for this icy superhero role but later it was revealed that Pike was actually in talks to play Moira McTaggert, the assistant to Professor X, who will be played by James McAvoy.

If Eve takes the role, she would join a cast that also includes Michael Fassbender as a young Magneto and Benjamin Walker as a young Henry McCoy, a.k.a. The Beast.

She first appeared on the scene in Starter for 10 alongside James McAvoy, so if she signs on, X-Men: First Class will reunite her with McAvoy, who has already been cast as Charles Xavier who ultimately became the recognized leader of the mutant group X-Men as Professor X!

Paramount Pictures UK is delighted to announce the theatrical release on October 1st in both the UK and Ireland for the film that was formerly known under the working title of We Want Sex.

Script is written by William Ivory (Common as Muck, Faith). A stellar all-cast was assembled for the film including award winning Sally Hawkins, Bob Hoskins, Miranda Richardson, Geraldine James, Rosamund Pike, Andrea Riseborough, Jaime Winstone, Daniel Mays and Richard Schiff.
