Lily Collins Cast in Remake of Sam Raimi’s THE EVIL DEAD
If anyone could replace Bruce Campbell as Ash in the upcoming remake of the 1981 horror classic The Evil Dead it is the female version of Ash. Therefore, the actor is actually an actress and new hero is a young lady named Mia. None other than rising star Lily Collins has landed a pretty big role in a gestating horror remake.
Newcomer Fede Alvarez helms the redo of the Sam Raimi’s classic work from a script he co-wrote with Rodolfo Sayagues, and revised by Diablo Cody, which goes into production in New Zealand in March. Raimi will produce alongside the original star Campbell.
Abigail Spencer Joins Oz, The Great and Powerful
So, let’s continue our little chat about the upcoming Sam Raimi‘s Oz, The Great and Powerful project that definitely has some impressive cast on board. And it’s getting bigger every single day!
According to the latest reports, Abigail Spencer has joined the previously announced James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Zach Braff.
As you already know, the movie is penned by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire, and it will follow a young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus.
His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches.
Logically, up there he must team up with Glinda the Good Witch in order to battle her evil counterparts who are bent on taking over the land.
As for the cast, Franco is on board to star as the charismatic magician, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz are the evil witches, while Michelle Williams is Glinda The Good Witch.
Michelle Williams to Play Glinda in Oz The Great and Powerful
Oz, The Great and Powerful – the project that definitely deserves our attention. So, today we’re here to report that Michelle Williams will join the cast of Sam Raimi‘s upcoming prequel to the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.
And yeah, that actually means Williams is now set to star as Glinda, the Good Witch.
I’m sure you already know that director Raimi previously wanted Hilary Swank for this role, while Disney wanted Williams. And they won their battle.
So now, Williams will team with James Franco, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis in a struggle for control of the magical land of Oz.
The premise is about “a young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches.
Rachel Weisz as Evil Witch in Oz, The Great and Powerful
Oz, The Great And Powerful, now even more powerful than ever! Why? Well, because we just learned that lovely Rachel Weisz is in talks to play one of the wicked witches in the upcoming Disney’s Wizard Of Oz prequel that we already wrote about.
Definitely an interesting choice for director’s Sam Raimi new story that will follow:
“… a young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches. One can only assume that he then somehow takes control of Oz setting the stage for Dorothy to show up and tell him there’s no place like home.”

Oliver Stone Wants Blake Lively to Play Ophelia in his Drug Cartel Film Savages
Oliver Stone wants Blake Lively to play Ophelia, the kidnapped girlfriend of two beach bums and drug dealers who is held to ransom.
Stone will pen and helm the film based on Don Winslow‘s drug cartel novel Savages, which focus on two Laguna Beach drug dealers forced to work for a Mexican drug cartel after Ophelia, the free-spirited girlfriend they share, is held hostage.
British star Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch are said to be in talks to play the two male leads, with Oscar-winner Benicio del Toro also in discussions about taking on a role.
Mila Kunis and James Franco in Sam Raimi’s Oz, The Great and Powerful
Here’s an interesting update on Sam Raimi‘s upcoming Oz, The Great and Powerful. Mila Kunis has signed on to play Theodora, the Wicked Witch of the West and previously rumored James Franco has signed on to play the Wizard, when he learned that Kunis is in the game.
Just for a record – this definitely means Kunis is no longer attached to star in Warner Bros.’ live-action remake of Katsuhiro Ôtomo’s 1988 manga epic Akira.
Oz, the Great and Powerful is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz that follows the origins of the Wizard and his encounter with the witches.
James Franco in Sam Raimi’s Oz, the Great and Powerful After Johnny Depp Passes?
Confirmed: James Franco just finalized a deal to star as the title character in Oz The Great and Powerful, Sam Raimi’s Disney 3D prequel to the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.
127 Hours star, James Franco is the latest actor rumored to be in the running to play the great Oz in the upcoming Sam Raimi‘s prequel Oz, The Great and Powerful.
This is not such a surprise and makes almost perfect sense, because we all know Raimi and Franco previously worked together on all three Spider-Man films. So, they make a good team.
We already had a little chat about this project, so you probably remember that Robert Downey Jr. was slated to play the part – the Wizard from the original film, who winds up in Oz following a balloon accident.
Johnny Depp to Replace Robert Downey Jr. In Oz, the Great and Powerful
It looks that Robert Downey Jr. is not as great and powerful as we all thought, since we just had a chance to hear that he’s fallen out of the upcoming Disney’s prequel-ish take on the Wizard of Oz tale, titled Oz, the Great and Powerful.
But don’t feel sad about this, because another name now is in the game, Johnny Depp!
Depp’s a busy man, he already has one project starting production later this year, Tim Burton’s adaptation of Dark Shadows and another in development, The Lone Ranger, directed by Gore Verbinski and also being handled by Disney.
On the other hand, we have no idea what’s the reason of Downey’s departure.
